Meriweather has 4 years and is a vested veteran, so he is a FA.

This brings back memory of the '07 draft when we were all thinking we would finally draft a safety. We traded our pick to the Jets presumably because there were 3 other safeties we would have a chance at before their pick. They then took Reavis and the safeties (Nelson, Griffin, and Meriweather) went before our pick. We had to settle for Beason. Thank you NE, Jackv, and Tenn for taking "our" safety.

We didn't settle for Beason, several team sources said that's who we were targeting all along and knew he'd probably still be there.

I'd imagine that those 8 are locks for being cut. That would put us at a perfect 53. Hopefully there would be some more cuts though to make room for some free agents.
