I do think hes ready. I mean lets be honest, we have about a 6 game maximum for wins at best. I think we CAN be competitive with a few more additions on D. It'd be nice for a receiver to step up. Cam has looked decent this preseason and I do think he should start. If not, then we go there. I'm not calling for a pro bowl season. Hes going to fug up, most rookies do, but I do think hes ready to start.

And if it turns out hes not, well then we'll go from there.

We have never had a #1 draft pick.

We have one now.

He's raw, gifted, talented, and fearless. He gets a little better each game and still people b*tch. They b*tch because he has 'one TD drive against a second string defense' they would have bitched if he didn't.

Cam Newton is the Panthers starting QB. He is exciting. He is not now, nor will he ever be Peyton Manning.

Can we just enjoy a little bit of success and yes, after a 2-14 season, when the team was 32nd in just about every category, I'll take that TD drive from Newton, and from Anderson. Good for both of them and good for Panthers fans.

Don't come back on here in 3 weeks if Cam has a bad game in the regular season and say, "I told you he never should've started!". If you wanna hitch the wagon to Clausen, now's the time to explain the reasoning.

I liked what I saw of Cam tonight for sure, but I still think that sitting a rookie is a better bet for that player's future. I personally think that we saw tonight why Derek Anderson didn't get virtually any reps and was never part of the QB competition...

because he probably would have won it, and that was not in the cards for this team this year.

Still, cam's exciting to watch and this year should be a fun ride. He looked much, much more comfortable out there tonight and I was glad for that.

btw, did anyone catch if the Steelers sat their first string D tonight? Or was our O-Line really that much improved in that first series?

I don't think people get it. There probably isn't one die-hard Jimmy fan on this board or even in our fan base. There are those out there that simply don't feel Cam was the right pick and since he is here...certainly is not ready to start. I saw ONE good pass tonight from Cam, the TD pass. As UNlucky as Jimmy is, Cam's is bound to run out at some point. Easlily could have had two picks tonight.

I don't think I've seen any posts during the past 2 games saying Jimmy should be over Cam, just posters saying maybe the coaches should consider letting Cam learn and get "the little things" down before throwing him out to the wolf pack.

Everyone has known for a while the supposedly "Qb competition" was never a competition at all. Coaches wanted Cam, and Cam they got.
