I’m not sure if Cincinnati rookies Andy Dalton and A.J. Green are going to be the NFL’s next great quarterback and receiver or if Carolina cornerback Chris Gamble is totally washed up.

GambleI’m leaning toward the latter after watching Gamble get beat badly twice by Green in Carolina's 24-13 loss in Thursday night’s exhibition game. It got so bad that Cincinnati broadcaster Anthony Munoz joked that Gamble was seen being escorted to the locker room to have aloe applied to his burns.

Awful. But then again i thought the insult was earned. Gamble was a embarassment to every vet corner in the NFL last night. He picked a awful season when we have no number 2 corner to say"hey coach i might be washed up".

I got to watch it yesterday with the Cincy broadcasters. Definitely heard that statement. Another one that he made was that he was loving seeing majority of Panther players on the ground after each play (said this while we were on D). Insinuating that the Bengals Oline was manhandling not only the DL but LB as well.

has gamble really ever been all that great though? He looked good at Ohio State but has never turned into that player i hoped he would be when drafted. You could more than likelyt replace him with an average corner and not notice any drop off in production except having much less to pay in salary.

His first 2 or 3 years in the the league he was. After that, not so much.

would there be a way that some team could be stupid enough to trade for this dud? i mean if he is gonna get toasted every damn play for 3 years straight anyhow why not put in somebody you only have to pay a minimum too? Heck, im pretty sure my grandma could cover better than this guy these days.

there wasn't much I could say to back up Gamble.. dude shouldn't have been torched on both of those plays.

Gamble looked like a fool when Green caught that pass out of bounds.. no way that should have happened, help over the top or not..

the TD score was just as bad.. dude was right there to make a play, but got burnt instead...

    • Why would we not be contenders? As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...   if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO. No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth. Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines. Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal
    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
