Underwhelmed but still pleased

I like the direction we are going. Cam is not ready and will likely not be ready anytime this year but I like watching him. He is about a fun a guy there is to watch out there right now.

Like the previous loss, a lot of things did not go our way yesterday which is obvious. One thing seemed to pile on top of the other for a while there in the 2nd. In spite of the sub par performance I still believe we have an above board team. I think we are in games that the scoreboard says we are not in.

This is due to two things, Ron and Chud. The circumstances surrounding their first year here practically guarantees them some growing room and we are assured some growing pains along with that. But I feel they are going to do what it takes to make us competitive. I think they know they can take some chances. Chances Fox would never take.

My opinion on Fox is now at an all time low. We had the same problems on the field every year and I believe now that it was him. I think he was playing for his next job maybe as far back as 3 years ago. he should never have been allowed on the field last year. His stock was high and he maintained status quo so it did not get damaged. Bang out 6-9 wins and get the hell outta Charlotte was his plan all along.

He was not a Panther. I think we have a chance to hae our first PANTHER HC in Ron. I like him. He has an opportunity here and the majority of my approval of the state of the team thus far is because I believe he will do what he can to capitalize on it.

here's to the future Panther fans:cheers2:

I'll drink to that.

Cam is too competitive to become a bust, but he'll never be a top five QB in the league, IMO, but his competitiveness and athleticism might be worth a ring or two---or at least a few thrills--- given the right supporting cast.

Foxball is the recipe for many nightmares. Rivera has a vision, and he's gonna need time to put it into action.

i agree.....Cam while a huge work in progress is fun to watch. Thought both his runs were great. Little disappointed in Smitty in the 2nd run b/c it looked like Cam saw Smitty and ran to his side hoping to catch a block........normally Smitty would have laid that one and it would have been a HUGE run.

Game doesn't look to big for Cam at all....just doesn't to of figured out how to throw yet w/ pressure in the NFL. The pressure doesn't seem to both him though at the same time.....he will get it.

the first time i rode my bicycle without training wheels, i wasn't ready. i did it anyway. the same is true for everyone. the first time you do something, you're going in as a newb. much of what you have to know to do it, you learn as you go. there are always elements to it that only experience can help you learn. cam knows enough how to survive in the game. he's learning pretty quickly how to correct mechanical issues. he's learning about how to go through progressions better and how to recognize what defenses are doing. the list goes on. all of the things that he needed to learn, he is learning.

the only debate is will he be better off going out and quickly applying what he learns with the bullets flying, making mistakes and running back in during the week to correct mistakes and learn how to be better, or will he be better off sitting back and watching someone else do it at not quite a high level while he just studies and practices with the backups?

we don't all learn the same way. we don't all prepare the same way and we don't all learn at the same pace. i think cam is one of those guys that experience is a necessary part of his learning process.

i think a lot of us are just running paranoid and are desperate for the just "play it safe" mentality of fox.

we've become risk adverse. you don't become a great team with out taking risks. you become a mediocre team by playing it safe.

The defense seemed to play better once McDermott left the booth and moved to the sidelines so I hope he stays there in future games...

I would still like to see them pressure the QB better...hopefully Hardy will help

A decent DT would make us a lot better. I know it keeps going back to that but there was a reason DT was one of the few FA we got this year. Its a shame we didnt have open call like we did in years past were we just picked up a ton of DTs and let them go at it.
