6/19? Sorry no.

Cam will be starting the 1st game of the season?! WHY?!

If he was not a 1st round pick - if he had been drafted in the late rounds - he'd be fighting just to keep a roster spot right now! Now, just because he's a 1st round pick - a brand new rookie whose footwork in the backfield and his accuracy $ucks - 'Cam will be starting the 1st game of the season'?! SERIOUSLY?!

6 of 19 for 75 yards.......

He played 1 year at a 'AA' school before being bough...er, playing at Auburn where he had a great year year.

We used back-to-back 1st picks on QBs over 2 years without ever letting the 1st guy we picked develop. We gave up on Jimmy faster than we did Eric Shelton, for pete's sake! If we START Cam Newton this year, 'throwing him to the wolves', it will be one of the biggest mistakes Carolina has ever made and will be a waste of a 1st round draft pick.

Whatever man, cry about it if you want but it happens all the time in the NFL. Jimmy was inherited by this regime and was one of the worst QB in football last year.

He didn't show any promise and if he did we wouldn't have drafted cam. Get over it.

I am sure Brett Favre, Troy Aikman, and Peyton Manning shouldn't have started their rookie seasons either as they just looked terrible. Throwing them into the fire sure did ruin their careers. You are right...now is the time to panic and give the keys to Jimmy. At least he can complete 3 yard passes.

No offense meant, but Favre didn't start his rookie season.

I don't subscribe to this "throwing into the fire" argument, if you have the goods then throwing you into the fire won't do you any harm... don't think David Carr ever had the goods.

I agree. On the job training usually works better than anything else.

fug the bench. He'll improve. He's still very green. Jimmy had his chance with 10 starts and showed literally NO IMPROVEMENT and even now, he has still shown no improvement. Jimmy days are numbered and no one will pick him up. This is only my opinion of course.

he'll start

and the coaching staff will fit our game to his specialties. i don't feel like that's what's been happening the past 3 weeks. they want to see if he can stand in the pocket and be a pocket passer, and last night didn't really show that he's able to do that yet. he looked good on rollouts, veers etc. expect more of that come week 1, and i think cam will look a lot better than he does now.
