Cam isn't starting the season period. not ready is a complete understatement. I don't give a poo about rushing yards or rushing TD's unless its from our Running backs.

An NFL QB must be able to pass the damn ball and above all things be accurate. The knocks on the kid coming out are really becoming glaring issues in the preseason. with it 'just being pre season' he should look a hell of a lot better than this.

But..But...But...He's tall, and smiles, and people like him, and he's not Clausen, and he can throw it a long ways, and girl's like him too, and ESPN talks about him and our team which makes me feel like we matter, and he can run like a running back, and he did well in college, and he played in the SEC, and did I mention he smiles, so who cares if he can actually get the ball to the recievers and that we will suck until he learns how to play like an NFL QB?

100% agree. There's no reason for him to start and turn into another Jimmy. Let him ride the bench, learn the game, and improve his game before we give him the keys.

WTF...turn into another Jimmy? I thought Jimmy was the kid groomed to be NFL ready but went downhill after being shell shocked. How is Cam now going to be like him if he's supposedly so bad to begin with?

Dude, football is team sport. Not only did receivers drop a few decent passes, our online was getting their asses whipped all night long. No running threat gives the defense the ability to sit back and focus on coverage. Couple that with the fact that their d line was getting plenty of pressure on Cam without needing to blitz that often and you get a young somewhat erratic QB that doesn't have time to throw the damn ball, much less accurately. Is he ready to start? No. But once again (much like last season) with the way our overrated online is playing, there isn't a qb in the NFL that would look good playing behind that garbage.

I am sure Brett Favre, Troy Aikman, and Peyton Manning shouldn't have started their rookie seasons either as they just looked terrible. Throwing them into the fire sure did ruin their careers. You are right...now is the time to panic and give the keys to Jimmy. At least he can complete 3 yard passes.

Let me see if I can help u see reality a little..This was Clausen, the kid who is so accurate and groomed to be a Pro NFL player's according to all the so called football experts because he came from ND. Tell me what stands out to u besides the many fumbles:

Clausen made his NFL debut in a loss against the New York Giants in the 2010 season opener, after starting quarterback Matt Moore was sidelined with a concussion.[37] After poor play by Matt Moore in a week 2 matchup against the Buccaneers, Clausen took over late in the game. He completed 7 of 13 passes for 59 yards and an interception and one fumbled snap, and led a 17-play drive that was stopped inside the 5-yard line.[38] The following week, Clausen started his first NFL game against the Bengals, completing 16 of 33 passes for 188 yards and an interception and three fumbled snaps, losing two
and it's seemed as if it took Clausen, the supposedly so accurate and better QB to get his first NFL touchdown four weeks into the season. That was his second time starting.

But, many of u are screaming and pulling out your hair because Cam isn't TD'ing all over the place in his preseason game and carrying an already weak ass team on his back.

Heck IMO, when ur a rookie playing in a preseason game for the first time, just not getting sacked and minimzing the fumbles is a treat. But not with Cam. He has to play like he has been at it for ten years. Talk about unfair and unrealistice expectations but I'm not surprised.

6 of 19 for 75 yards.......

He played 1 year at a 'AA' school before being bough...er, playing at Auburn where he had a great year year.

We used back-to-back 1st picks on QBs over 2 years without ever letting the 1st guy we picked develop. We gave up on Jimmy faster than we did Eric Shelton, for pete's sake! If we START Cam Newton this year, 'throwing him to the wolves', it will be one of the biggest mistakes Carolina has ever made and will be a waste of a 1st round draft pick.
