Did Cam do enough?

You know, ironically, as poor as Cam has played at times, he still may represent our best chance to win. He hasn't turned the ball over, and he is about the only running game we have right now.

Jimmy's gonna get killed behind this line, and throw a good number of pick 6's in the process.

I think I would name DA the starter for now, take a bit of the pressure off the young guys, and then slowly work Cam in once the rest of the team remembers how to play football.

I completely understand your point. But do you realize what the fan base would do if DA started week one? It simply won't happen. Not after all this "competition" between Jimmy and Cam.

Cam won't get killed back there like you said. I feel like its a catch 22. The best chance for the offense to move the ball at this point is for him to be more liberal in his running, and do it more often. At the same time if he does that it is likely his progression as a pocket passer will slow.

Wold love to see DA play around 3-6 games, then for Cam to take the reigns for the rest.

But as of now, the offense is just not clicking enough for a rookie to come in.

No Way on DA! We might actually win some games....We're playing for Luck now!

I don't know what is with some of yall's fascination on Clausen, but the guy has to be the third worst QB in the league. (Only outdone by Curtis Painter and Todd Collins) How is it that some of you say you would rather see Pickles out there than DA? At least DA had success in this offense, what in the world has Clausen done? I thought the major point in bringing in a vet QB was to let him start if Cam wasn't ready. If we had Marc Bulger, most of you guys would be harping to start him. We have a vet who knows the offense, has a decent arm, and is young, yet most of you want want to can him because of one blow up speech last year.

I think it's completely stupid on the coaching's staff part to let DA sit on the bench. If you hate the guy, cut him already. Yet if he is still on the roster, he is definitely the best QB we have to start. If I was JR, my advice to the coaching staff would be either cut the guy, or start him. It's as simple as that.

I'm down for DA starting...at this point it can't be any worse and it could possibly save one or two careers

He has played better than Jimmy. I would like to see what Anderson can do, but that is not going to happen. Cam is going to be the starter. We all need to remember that he is a rookie. Is he inaccurate? Sure. Are a lot of rookies inaccurate? You bet.

It's sad and unfair but it's Newton's job to lose. Jimmy is the one that has to separate himself. I've said this times before but if Cam is our future QB, it makes more sense for DA to start than Clausen (unless Clausen looked out of this world).

A couple of nice runs...you see that aspect of his upside.

However, his mechanics are still terrible and he was all over the place in the passing game. He is nowhere ready to be a starting QBin the NFL. He may end up being good, but has a long way to go.

He is exactly what many of us said he was...a great athlete, strong arm....but he is a PROJECT.

We tied our wagon to this guy when we took him #1. Like it or not, he is our QB for the next few years. Clausen could only hope for a trade as he will not get on the field unless there is an injury. If Cam sucks(current) or gets better(hope), he is your starter.

If he was not a 1st round pick - if he had been drafted in the late rounds - he'd be fighting just to keep a roster spot right now! Now, just because he's a 1st round pick - a brand new rookie whose footwork in the backfield and his accuracy $ucks - 'Cam will be starting the 1st game of the season'?! SERIOUSLY?!

      I mean that’s not an argument I go with… But in ACC play, both Clemson and SMU covered the spread more than Miami.  Miami didn’t cover in 3 games.
