Look what rotoworld is saying already after tonight's game

You act like this is news. We went 2-14 last year, not 14-2. "Its not going to be pretty" No poo.

That's really not the point. The FO, at the very least, has watched film over the summer. We are supposed to be progressing, not retrogressing. There is really no reason why we couldn't have been a bit more conservative with the $$ and picked up a veteran DT, DE & CB that knows half-way what the hell is going on.

I thought we'd get about 5/6 games this year, and that our D-line may be somewhat suspect, but they look even worse than I thought. Ditto for the backfield, not to mention our still ballyhooed O-line which has no excuses. If you thought we'd look like this against the Phins and the Bungles, then you're much more pessimistic---if not realistic---than I am. It's looking like this year's team is not going to be any more competitive than last year's team. But for Cam, last year's team might whip this year's team's ass.

Here's to hoping we can win 3 games:cheers2: with the defensive personnel that we have now.

it's true. it's been a while since I've been this worried about the defense

~Gamble sucks and we have no #2 corner(Asante Samuel is NOT the answer. Look at what Reid did to Arizona with Kolb, we need to save our picks for next year because chances are they're all going to be VERY valuable).

~Worst group of defensive tackles I've ever seen watching football

~Jon Beason is injured, and we don't know when he'll come back/if he'll be healthy enough to play to his potential

~average safeties at best, which isn't a bad thing but when our cornerback situation is so fuging awful you need those guys to carry a bigger load, which I'm not sure they're capable of

~Charles Johnson will be fine but we need another DE to step up or we'll be fuged. can't rely on one guy to do all the work.

~as much as I like Thomas Davis there is still a good chance he gets injured again, if he goes down we're fuged even worse

then you have the right side of the o-line acting like a revolving door, not good for our run game or QB

ugh, I can't take another #1 pick season, even though we'll be able to bend over another team for a Herschel Walker-type trade for Luck. losing sucks bawls.

in before I'm called a bad fan for being realistic

That's gonna be so sweet. But a true nightmare would be winning enough games to pick second.

How does the O-Line not have an excuse? Granted these are all NFL players and should not get embarrassed, but we are missing 2 out of the 5 starters right now, one of which is the 2nd most important.

I don't think anyone with any intelligence has said that the team is going to make the playoffs. 4 to 6 wins may be the best that this team is capable of. Until they can stop the run to get the defense off of the field or sustain long drives to keep the defense off the field...It will look like last year.

If we parlay a bad season into a herschel walker type deal, we will be in the same position....without a decent QB on this team.

Newton has so far to go, that we have no idea whether he will be good. He has performed worse than any other QB from this draft.

I think people who thought this season would be above average were unrealistic. The last two preseason games have brought people back to reality a little. With that being said, I still think the team is better than we have played the last two games.

But he has to play for the worst team also. We fielded the worst offense ever last year and its not much better this year. Say what you want but Hurney didnt plug our biggest problems last year. RG and DT and losing Marshall just added to the problems. Im sorry but blaming Cam for looking bad when he had more rushing yards then our starting back did is fuging stupid. Give him some time back there and give him a run game and if he still looks bad I will agree with you but till then he should be given time.

people thought we were good enough last year on defense not to have to take one of those defensive studs in the first

Defensive studs? Dareus and Fairley may end up being good (both have had injury issues so far), but it's not like we passed on Suh, who may be one of the all-time great DT's.

I for one think McClain will be good in time. Maybe not Pro-bowler but maybe Damione Lewis level when he was good from

Concerning Fua, people forget too that if you look at most 1-technique DT (nose tackles), most take a while to develop (like most fullbacks). Losing Ron Edwards was huge (literally) for this defense.

I haven't given up on McClain or Fua, but they are not ready to shoulder the load as starters right now- that is obvious

They do need to get off their humps and sign a veteran DT who can play the nose.
