Biggest problem I saw tonight...

Recommended Posts

All summer I've been thinking how our offense did our defense no favors last year, going 3-and-out every drive, keeping the D on the field too much. Now, what Cam and our offense need more than anything is a defense that gets off the field, helping put our offense in favorable field position so we can work to actually sustain some offensive drives. Now I see a defense that is content to be on the field for 70% of the game. fml

It's a tough hill to climb for us this year, especially if our offense is only seeing the game maybe 5-6 series. You almost HAVE to score every possession to have a chance at winning. The only thing standing in the way of that is lousy WRs and pathetic playcalling. Pretty important pieces there.

FMFL. I had gotten so excited after that first preseason game.

I'm calling out individual players.

Chris Gamble is showing his age. We should have kept Marshall and not gambled on him (pun intended).

Dan Connor and James Anderson are perhaps the slowest LBs sideline to sideline in the history of the Panthers. Benard Scott looked like Barry Sanders out there.

And can someone please please tell Charles Johnson that he can join the Panthers any time now. I think he's still counting the wads of cash that he got from Marty "the idiot" Hurney.

It's going to be another tough season fellas. But if that spells the end of the Hurney era, I'm okay with another 2-win season.

There was absolutely no discipline nor lane integrity on the defense last night. The players were out of position on play after play after play.

It was embarassing to see our DE's continuously crashing down and being out of position.....giving up big run plays.

McDermott needs to step it up.....or he will prove Philly correct for running him out of town.

considering that about all the talking heads predicted that the beagles were the worst team in the league prior to our suedo game with them, I'm wondering which are the 1 or 2 games on our schedule we can win? When the stands are half full what will Richardson do then?

    • Bryce put it in a spot only his guy could get it only for David Moore to drop it. T_T Tremble and Horn both struggled yesterday and that killed me since they're two of my favourite players. Tommy knows he has to come down with this one. Folks were understandably saying that JT would've caught that had he not gotten hurt a few plays earlier. The more I look at this play, the more I think that Bryce made the right decision throwing it out the back of the endzone. He could have tried to laser it in to Thielen, but that safety is lurking awfully close inside. Insuring the field goal here after a 44sec drive to end the half was the right move.
    • Except Bryce was the main reason we were in it
    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
