Notes and memos, Preseason Game 3:

I remember last year when it was "Well it's only pre season shut up"

Yup and when the games start you can't use that anymore, too bad.

Unfortunately I feel the same. What we are doing in Preseason will be much like what we are doing in the Regular season. Miller Light stocks might go up that quarter.

As long as your post are still good I cant see us cutting you. We need a vet presence in the huddle.

Saw a rumor on Twitter that I might get traded to the Chargers boards for Boltergeist and a draft pick.

Kinda hope not. I don't really wanna live on the West Coast,

While I think that our interior Dline might very well struggle, I'm not as worried about our Oline until Otah actually doesn't play in the opener.

I'm also not worried about the play calling, preseason is a time to work on specific areas of the game, the gameplanning, even for the third game, isn't anything like it will be for the regular season and the play calling mix isn't as well.

Our run game a huge focal point of our team and we haven't been using it that much during the preseason and I don't think it's because of it's ineffectiveness, we've actually had quite a few really nice runs, as well as a few not so nice ones. However, overall the run plays have been very vanilla without much innovation and I believe that will change, as well as the passing play calling. We've seen flashes of it, a few designed runs have really caught my eye as well as a few nice short pass routes, such as the motion TE out to the left to Shockey on 3rd down today.

Preseason is a time to evaluate individual performances and as such much of the gameplan is designed around being able to do that. In the regular season you gameplan around your strengths and away from your weaknesses, you don't do that as much in the preseason because you are trying to figure out what exactly they are, and to what degree.

Just because Foxball from last year (and not just Foxball but horrible dumbed down, uninspired foxball) has everyone worried that the play seen in preseason will mirror regular season doesn't necessarily make it the truth.

Dear Cam,

To make it easier for you to read your progressions, just look for the 8's. If they don't wear 80, 88, or 89, don't waste your time. The other 80's won't be out there enough to matter, and 6, 11, and 14 rarely get open.

Sincerely,

Anyone who has watched this preseason

Dear Front Office:

Please acquire a defensive line that can compete against the run.

I'd like the offense to have the ball more than 20 minutes a game.

Love, Cam

LOL....But...But...it's ur fault Cam...Ur inaccurate and your footworks stinks or at least the that has become the media's talking point.

Not much mentioning of how bad the rest of the team play. All scrutinizing eyes are on Cam.

U know a team isn't that good when their QB's running yardage is almost as high as those who get paid to catch and run with the ball.

I hope you are right. The playcalling has certainly been much different against Miami and Cinci than it was against the Giants.

It is just really hard to see both our lines get beat up so badly and still retain a bit of faith.

    • No team in the league would sit back and say Mays outplayed Hunt or Lewis so its a typical case of stats (or ratings) not telling the story. The team also was in a much better position at the end of the year, where the begging was very rough all around. Everyone was learning the new scheme, calls, learning how new teammates played in real games and all of that changed the second half of the year. We started getting actual production from the run game and receivers and everyone’s play changed from the beginning of the year.   As a side note Mays goes down or another linemen who is coming in? We have zero depth and Brady Christiansen will be hitting free agency to be a starter elsewhere.  With as many holes as we have it makes sense as long as it’s team friendly deal. I’m not opposed to drafting someone as well, but we know what we are getting from Corbett when healthy and he’s above average playing multiple positions. Maybe they have it as an open competition between him and Mays, loser is the prime backup for G and C
