Cam is not ready

Cam looks like a rookie who didn't have any off-season training with his new team and coaches. He looks like he went straight from one year with the Auburn Tigers to a rookie QB for the Carolina Panthers. Is he supposed to look like John Elway?? I think he is doing fine, considering.

Tonight, IMO, the defense looked like a bunch of 3rd stringers on a high school team. Cam had what seemed like 2 or 3 series in the first half. The rest of the time we were watching our defense get their collective a$$es get kicked all over the field. Boy, we are in for a loooonng sad season if that is all we have on defense.

And for the offense, geez, get some WRs who can get open once in a while and give Cam a chance. It is sad when your best receivers are your tight ends.

Salty you are about to feel the hate that realism brings from the homers...get ready

As a huge fan of him in College, I never had faith in him turning into a good NFL qb. Average, Yes...but just too much inconsistency in the passing game for my liking. I'm not saying he won't be a good one; I just don't think he will.

I think he was too locked in on Smith tonight.

& if he sits now his footwork & other things might look great in practice but want mean much of anything until he can duplicate it in game situatons.

Do you think David Carr was just a bust waiting to happen, or did the Texans coaching staff play a role in ruining him?

In most aspects of their respective personas, Newton and Carr are nothing alike. But with that said, if you think Newton is immune to being ruined by poor coaching decisions the way that Carr was, think again. Even a guy like Peyton Manning could have been turned into a bust had he been handled badly.

Developing a quarterback is the single most difficult task in the NFL. And the guys that bust generally don't do so without at least a little help.

Bottom line: We've got a big investment in Newton. I don't wanna see it screwed up.

The numbers aren't telling of the game. The first drive, the OL ended up in Cam's lap within 2 seconds. Not to mention the pocket collapsing constantly. And we can't get the run set up to slow down the blitz because the OL sucks. Dalton is succeeding because the Bengals can ran straight through us. Not because he's playing better. Cam has looked OK tonight. Made some good decisions. Don't just look at numbers and say "terrible." Actually watch the game. He's not going to look like an all-star folks. NFL starter =/= pro-bowl material. He'll be fine. OL needs to quit sucking.

The EXCACT samething could be said when Jimmy was back there! That's what Salty's saying! :beatdeadhorse5: :banghead:

i just say fug it and let cam run wild(with many read option spread plays) this first season. if we all think we aren't going to win many games why not have him out there to keep the fanbase excited..we don't all want to have to turn the game off at halftime like we did so many times last year..

That will help his development

He needs to develop proper technique and decision making, which will be done a heck of a lot better in practice until it becoes instinctive THEN you can expose him to the firefight that he will be exposed to.

There is absolutely no gain in the passing game from choosing Cam over Clausen. If that is the case, and Cam needs time to learn, why would you play him?!
