Cam is not ready

The Saltman

Cam has issues no doubt, big ones. Number 1 being passing the ball, maybe he should take lessons from Clausen on how to step into throws. His pocket awareness is poo, at least it was tonight. He did good running when he needed to but he had no sense of where the pressure was coming from on the sacks. I like his decision making for a rookie, he is way ahead in that department, but when the o-line is getting blocked into you that is a bad sign, on the o-line's part and on Cam's.

Edit: Btw AJ Green is dat deal.

That's one of a couple of really bad scenarios if he starts week one.

Honestly, his biggest fans are the people who should be the most dead set against starting him early.

Guys really want to throw him out there in the middle of this mess? Good grief, why? :sosp:

I know people are anxious to see him succeed, but I'll happily sacrifice this year if it puts him in a better position to start for the next ten.

I don't know that starting him right away will set him back any more than sitting him for a year. As long as he keeps him confidence, doesn't get rattled by throwing 20 picks and shows improvement over the year he could be fine by playing. If you look at the first 3 games he really doesn't look rattled out there. He avoids most sacks hasn't thrown a pick and frankly shows some flashes. Not usually the kind of things that do a David Carr on a rookie quarterback.

TBH Anderson is my QB going into week one. Let cam be #3 for good reason.

And this is why I'm officially on the start Clausen or Anderson wagon. This team isn't good enough to throw a rookie QB to the fire. Run game sucks, O Line sucks, WR can't get off jam, D Line sucks.

is it really a big surprise that we are struggling on all facets right now? i mean i'm sure we all hoped we'd put all what we've installed together in this short period of time; but we are still a team trying to figure out what play we are even running.

Cam may not be ready, but neither is the whole team..everyone needs to be playing at their highest level in order for our rookie QB to come in play better..so far it just looks like everyone is going through the motions like they are just trying to remember what they are being taught in practice.

Everyone just needs to come into the season with no expectations and just be happy if we start to pull it all together as a unit eventually..hopefully before week 17.

We are truly paying for Lockout protection. Not signing hardly any FAs this year didnt help ether.

Agreed, just do not let Cam start unless he's the best option for the team.

However, I don't see them going with Jimmy unless injuries happen (reasons being the fans)

I wouldn't be surprised if DA were to start, but I'm expecting Cam to start.

One half blame Cam's inaccuracies on his footwork and another blame his decision making.

In the end it seems everyone is on the same page that the o-line and d-line sucks...:D

Said it elsewhere. You start a rookie on a bad/transitional team under one of two conditions:

a) the team around him is good enough to carry him

b) he's good enough to lead the team, even if it's bad

Neither of those conditions apply to the 2011 Panthers.
