Cam is not ready

So many hypotheticals in here

Why don't you guys join reality

You should just ask Clausen out on a date. Id take my chances with Cam over Clausen any day. Don't care if Cam takes time to learn. It will pay off no matter how right you think you are after preseason game #3

Ur kidding right.... At last check, Blaine's bad throws were blamed on the offense. Dayton bad throws weren't his fault and Jake's bad throws were considered a set-back. The media tends to filter things so they can always looks right. Who are we kidding.

They clearly stated that they weren't going to give Cam any room to breathe. He was either going to be throwing lights out or he was a failure..

They stated that they were going to over scrutinize him, something they didn't do to Sam Bradford last year. So when u say ur going to over scrutinize someone, that leaves me to believe that the person isn't as bad as ur making them out to appear.

Who "clearly stated"? Because the majority of our media has been pretty f'ing positive about him, and the majority of the national media has too. Bradford took heat in his first two preseason games and it wasn't until he started in his third and lit up the patriots people started to heap praise on him. So I'm not sure why you think he was a golden boy - he wasn't even going to start for his team until he played so well in the last 2 preseason games his coach couldn't bench him.

Talk about overscrutinizing, the Jaguars fans are doing it JUST as much about Gabbert as Panther fans are about Newton. At least I haven't seen anyone here yet say that drafting Newton means team management is trying to set the team up to fail so we have to move to LA.

Question, do u see much of an improvement between Jimmy's preseason last year and this year?

Yes, though I didn't see anything at all from him tonight. Who knows if it'd carry over to the regular season, but he was looking down field and taking chances, which is something he was chided for a lot. He also took what the defense gave him to move the chains, which I liked.

edit: also, the only "bad throws blamed on receivers" were drops... and dalton didn't exactly have a glowing review after his Jets game despite the fact that he played well after his slow start imo. (he started 0-5 with 2 turnovers or something)

how many throws today are you going to attribute to receivers dropping?

you're obviously new here and know nothing about what I've posted in the past so i'm going to go easy here and explain to you that even if the o-line struggled, cam has the tools and capabilities to move around in the pocket, escape pressure, and extend plays. he didn't do that nearly enough.

I didn't give Jimmy any freebies last year either. yeah the o-line didn't play great but he played like utter crap as well. It's the exact same with cam this game.

So explain to my why does football have an offense and a defense if the QB has to do everything.

I know the QB is the CEO but they don't run a company by themselves. Everyone has a role to play. Cam, like Jimmy have their role and so do the offense. Even thou Cam has more upside than Jimmy, if he's expecting an offense to respond a certain way cause they did it during practice then don't blame him.

God, some of u just simply need to except the fact that u hate for Cam is driven by this unrealistic mindset.

What year is Jimmy in? Wasn't you bashing him last year? What happened to three years?

I went to every game last year and rooted for him to play well and I never booed him. My only responses usually revolved around saying that if Clausen was starting we were in a world of hurt and Moore would be looking bad which was a serious problem. Was I a Clausen fan? No. I supported Moore. But if you look at my posts this season as well you will note that I have said several times that I hope Clausen plays well and improves significantly. I was critical of his lack of arm strength and poor mobility for example but that wasn't a rookie issue but lack of athletic ability. I don't think he will ever have the skill sets to operate in a vertical passing game no matter how long he has to change.

Can I join in?

Newton is just not ready. Every rookie qb that has ever played in three 3 preseason games not only look better but will probably end up with much better careers than Newton.

"random logical poster says: But.......... you know our Oline has been playing horrible, no rookie qb is going to look good with defenders in his face by the time the ball is in his hands"

...................aha , I've got you now. Where was that line of thinking at last year, when Clausen was getting all the blame?

He's really not.

Rookie spread QB with some footwork issues and a massively shortened off-season. His decision making is actually better than I thought it would be and that is promising. You get him used to planting and stepping into his throws and he's going to look much improved.

He will be the better player long term if we sit him for 3/4 or even a full season. Throw Clausen or Anderson out there, let them steer us to our 5 win season and then bring Cam out.

Again, if there were critiques they would soften them by reminding the audience about the learning process.

Cam is in a learning process, in case you haven't learned by now.

Just like how Jimmy got the benefit of the doubt last year, when he was tossing picks.

Let's not be so subjective here.

Dont get so mad bro.

I said he wasnt ready to start in the NFL. I never said he wouldnt be good in time. You people need to calm down.

Not mad just trying to give some perspective here. People need to recognize he has been in the NFl for less than 4 weeks and stop making threads bitching with every poor pass or difficulty like it is something unexpected. Most pundits said he would take 2 or 3 years just to learn the playbook and read defenses. You complain after 3 preseason games. Maybe you need to calm down.

Or if the team keeps playing like it did tonight for the first few weeks, he may not get comfortable, fans may call for his head, Rivera may bench him and start Jimmy when we're struggling... and I just would rather have it be Jimmy who we are calling to bench ;P

That's one of a couple of really bad scenarios if he starts week one.

Honestly, his biggest fans are the people who should be the most dead set against starting him early.

Guys really want to throw him out there in the middle of this mess? Good grief, why? :sosp:

I know people are anxious to see him succeed, but I'll happily sacrifice this year if it puts him in a better position to start for the next ten.

So Cam has to be perfect while the other QBs can make mistakes. 0-5 with 2 turn overs and u believe Dalton didn't do so bad. Yet u sit there and pick Cam apart for every one ball hits the ground...WOW

As I've said before, many of u are looking at Cam through a completely different set of glasses than u are the other QBs.

I actually agree with u. Why subject Cam to the same nonsense that Jimmy went through last year if it hasn't been fixed. Jimmy is at least accustom to the hot mess that is the Panther's offense and d-fence...:D:D
