Cam is not ready

Sadly, that seems to be overlooked. Too much over-reaction and unrealistic expectation for Cam. Many of you are so black and white with him it's not funny.

Amazing how Cam is being accused of being so inaccurate, yet the kid has played against most of the 1st and 2nd team so far. More than any of this years rookie QB and he's has yet to throw an interception and has only been sacked twice. How is that if he's so inaccurate.

I could have sworn Rivera said that Cam wasn't the SAVIOR but just a part. Why are some of u acting like he's not only the savoir but a miracle worker.

You have to admit, the passing disparity on his part is just not impressive, nor is it good. What we've seen of him however, makes me comfortable with seeing him start.

It's just that the offense in general has been just as bad as Cam, and the Defense... that's a whole nother' story.

I think people (Cam fans as well) have varying expectations of him, and literally expect him to carry a team.

When in reality, that just doesn't happen in the NFL. The last player to do such a thing was Vince Young back in 06' .

This ain't basketball, a rookie player is not going to just waltz into a team and be the next Lebron, or Blake Griffin.

I'm fully expecting Cam to start (and pending on if the Oline is entirely healthy) I expect him to struggle early, and progress into what we're expecting him to be by the end of the season.

The talent is there, he just needs to tune it.

If I am Hurney tonight, and I think that Otah's problems are going to linger, RT goes near the top of my list when cuts roll around.

Yes, we need a DT also, but tonight is a precursor to what we will see all year without improvement on the right side of the o line.

Without a decent run game and QB protection, it won't matter who starts at QB.

With how awful our line has played,if there is any hope that otah might return we cant afford to cut him. players with his ability are not just walking around. with that said i'd consider cutting him if he doesn't give me 80% of a season this year.

We need to put up more points than 13 to win also, ten of which came of short field turnovers.

the offense isnt going to be fixed overnight, even if they drafted Luck they would've struggled, people seem to think Newton is the savior or will be like Vick and put the team on his back and take them to the playoffs in a year. Newton isnt as fast as Vick was, so dont expect that. Give Newton time, but then again, i have already heard some people wanting Luck.

my issue is the defense, 60 yards to Benson in a half, not good.

Exact-f*cking-ly.

It's funny how Cam, makes so many bad decisions, but have yet to throw an Int. You guys bore me.

"Cam is inaccurate" has been the media's talking point and they are sticking with it. Funny that none of the other QBs are being called inaccurate when their stats are low..Nope their low stats are blamed on the O-line.

Every missed ball is automatically Cam's fault, regardless...Yep, sounds fair to me.

I agree with everything you guys are saying. But it's funny how everybody was so down on Jimmy clausen looking like crap with only a handful blaming the other players being inept. But when Cam looks bad it's everybody elses problem...just saying.

Yeah I agree.

Look guys, Cam got no help but he still didn't do very well. I've been telling you guys the same thing for 2 weeks, he's not ready. Start Jimmy, let Cam develop on the bench. If Jimmy sucks.gets hurt/the season goes out the window, then we can put Cam out there. I think Cam to be the future of the franchise too, don't call me a hater. It's just not the right time.

what the fug does not being sacked have to do with being accurate? the vast majority of interceptions arne't accuracy either, they're decision making...

Oh so now his inaccuracy is because of his decision making skills....last week it was his footwork...Next week is going to be what?

BTW, is any of the missed balls the fault of the receivers?

Isn't it funny that no matter how bad, good,or decent a QB plays, if the media has him as their favorite, his mistakes are minimized and if they pegged him to be bad or a "project," every mistake is his fault.

    • Agreed on the last part. They can’t afford to lose all these games with Martin and Perets.
    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
