Cam is not ready

You did watch the game, right?

We are going to have to carry 6 QB's on the roster, and the bigger they are, the better, 'cause normal sized QB's are going to get killed.

Literally killed.

Yes and I can tell you that while Cam was pressured on some plays the O line wasn't the issue every time

So I post that saying, if you are going to blame this performance on the O line, how can you NOT say Jimmys problem was the O line?

As a hugger I can say that the O-line wasn't the problem. That is a cop out. His protection was fine. He needs to get rid of the ball.

He just needs to quit trying to make every play a homerun. Take an infield single every once in a while. Wait what sport is this??

Fine?

Ohohohohoh, you jest.

So you all believe Jimmy is the best bet. Ok, if he starts and throws 1 TD in 5 games, i will bump this thread so everybody can eat their crow.

Nobody has said Jimmy is the best bet. Jimmy is not talented enough to start over Cam, period.

However, that doesn't change the fact that Cam is not ready.

If anything the team might as well throw Clausen out there for a couple of weeks and let Newton get a better grasp on the game. Far too many rookie QB's have been ruined going down the path that we are taking.

we have no idea how Dalton would have played tonight... or how our offense would have looked with dalton & aj green, or aj green & clausen, or how our defense would have looked with dareus or any of that other bullpoo... so let's not speculate.

cam didn't look good but it doesn't mean his entire career is over. it just means maybe the coaching staff should reconsider starting him week 1, because he honestly didn't look ready... and I think anyone who thinks he DID look ready is drinking a bit too much of the Cammy Cam Juice.

now, the problem is he may not be ready, but he may still be our best option to win... I don't personally think that but hey, it's very possible I'm wrong.

I don't think he looked ready.

I also don't think that Clausen is a real viable alternative. With the QBs we have I think we should start Cam. That does not mean I think he is ready. But I think since there isn't really great alternative you throw him out there and just let him learn. He can practice his mechanics during the week whether he is starting or not.

He will get better as he gets more comfortable and starts making better decisions.

The right side of the line has been a problem the last two season and it has nothing to do with Cam.

We need Otah back, and we need a capable RG. Badly.

Left side is great. Right side is atrocious, and not just in the pass game.

What happened to waiting 3 years to evaluate a draft class. What happened to giving him time to learn the game. It is still preseason and people are already bitching. At that rate this season is going to go on forever and this board will be a total waste of time.

What floors me is how ignorant all of this talk really is. People expecting him to look good at this point really know nothing about football at all. And peple criticizing him as just as ignorant as well. The last rookie who looked good was Rothlisburger and he had a great defense and running game to back him up. Unless we have the same you can expect our team and Newton to struggle mightily.

Seems schizophrenic to me. For months we have talked about how we wouldn't be very good and how Newton would struggle if he started. Then when we look bad in the preseason it is as if people are totally surprised and stunned. Earth to the Newton critics. Come in for your daily reality check.

People say yeah it is the preseason and then go right on bashing him. Give it a rest. Otherwise your ignorance is overwhelmingly apparent.

Yes his protection was off the charts. Like someone said before. Dalton could of read War and Peace and still have enough time to throw the ball. Cam was pressured within 3 seconds.

Thats not exactly true.

Cam had a lot of time a lot of plays...then he extended them, which is good, by rolling out of the pocket...then he couldn't decide what to do; should I pass or should I run.

So here is what happened

By the time he decided to run it was to late...he was caught from behind

By the time he decided to pass it didn't matter...defenders had time to adjust or he threw in the dirt

Look lets call a spade a spade and just admit that we need to be starting Anderson

What year is Jimmy in? Wasn't you bashing him last year? What happened to three years?
