How can you not be excited about Cam.

I am excited about Cam. Very excited. We just have too far to go as a team to have a true rookie at the helm. I don't want us to ruin him.

So with Jimmy it's the O-line but with Cam, the problem is him...Okay, got it. And one really feels they haven't set the bar ridiculously to high for him?

Admit it. He played poorly tonight, just like the rest of the team. And I am a huge Cam fan.

I thought Chud could have called a more rookie-friendly game, with more short passes and a greater emphasis on the run game. Given our o-line, the result may have been the same.

the whole "nah man Cam bears like no responsibility it isn't a rookie's job to do anything but drool and hand the ball off, not his fault nobody else played well" is getting old.

it's not like I think we should toss Cam out the door, but I feel like he should sit on the bench for a bit until he can do a bit more, because this offense *is* going to need a QB to make more plays than we might expect a rookie to.

that being said, I don't think we have a better option, as Jimmy is bad in his own ways too, so it comes down to what's best for Cam in the long term.... Is that starting or sitting?

IMO it's sitting when your team isn't really in good shape to support the rookie.

Maybe I don't get as wound up about the game as some of you folks do but especially when you lose but did Cam really play poorly or are u expecting Cam to carry a not so good team on his back?

Cam needs a little but of Jimmy Clausen in him. :eek: :eek:

After watching Clausen all of last year there is a natural disdain in this fan base for checking down but Cam is the extreme opposite. It seems like he is trying to break off 30+ yard gains on every pass. No one will complete a lot of passes trying to go for homeruns on every play.

He is going to learn that he has to take what the defense gives him sometimes.

But it is preseason I am not going to claim defeat or victory until the end of the season once we see if he is progressing or if he is still having games like tonight.

And I know they said tonight was a dress rehearsal but I can't help thinking there are more wrinkles to this offense than what they are showing.

I disagree.

Cam needs reps. He Is right where he should be in his game from a fundamental stand point.

He has got to settle down and get accilmated to the game.

No, he's not.

That's his biggest problem. He's not where he should be fundamentally for a good high school QB. His fundamentals are the majority of the problem.

His rookie decision making, running, swag is all good, his fundamentals are atrocious.

Clausen would been beheaded in this game. Beheaded. Cam basically kept drives alive with his scrambling ability. The rest of those plays would have been sacks.
