All of that is why, to me, Vick seems to have a deeply African-American approach to the game. I'm not saying that a black QB who stands in the pocket ain't playing black. I'm saying Vick's style is so badass, so artistic, so fluid, so flamboyant, so relentless -- so representative of black athletic style -- that if there were a stat for swagger points, Vick would be the No. 1 quarterback in the league by far.

That whole article is the reason why racism is still around in some American minds. There are people, both black and white, who don't see race when they see an issue. The minute anybody, no matter their race, pulls that card, they are trying to find an excuse. Yeah, at one point, racism was a huge issue. But it isn't nearly as bad anymore. In fact, it is a lot more even split.

I read about 4 paragraphs in and realized that the author is off base. What, white people can't grow up rough? White people don't grow up in EXACTLY the same circumstances, or damn near close? That just isn't possible, is it? No, you see, only black kids can grow up with nothing in a rough neighborhood and feel like sports are their only saving grace.
