Rumor: Carolina want's Eagles corner

it won't be anything earlier than a 5th.

he's 4th or 5th on their depth chart and he's costing them $2.6mil. everyone knows they can't really afford to keep him around and it's really only a matter of time before they release him.

i'm not worried about the price. and if he can cover the slot well...i wouldn't mind giving up a little earlier pick than a 5th.

Just an update to this....Eagles are now rumored to be trying to get a 6th or a 7th for Hanson and if they don't get it, he will be released along with DE Juqua Parker (avgs about 7 sacks per year).

Not interested. I first heard of Joselio either last year or the year before and every game I watched him in, he was VERY impressive. But, he was impressive because I thought he was a young player with huge upside that just came on strong with the Eagles... I didn't know he was already 29 or 30 years old and was almost the same size as Captain.

When I found out those two things, it immediately took away any interest in trading for him. Another thing to throw in there, the Eagles have always had the ability to make their DBs look amazing due to their system and their guys usually end up leaving and sucking elsewhere (unless they are blatantly-in-your-face-talented like their top 3 now, Al Harris comes to mind)...

I'd rather sign Lito Sheppard who is a year or two younger and has a much more impressive resume... And we don't have to give up anything for him. Then again, he used to be one of those can't miss Eagles corners as well, lol.

I get the McDermott connection with Philly, but hopefully our FO won't be homers and have us bring in one of their corners. Neither fit our long-term plans, and I have to think someone equal or better will be released this weekend by other teams. With Captain in the slot, I'd hate to have another 5'9'' corner opposite Gamble. Patience will payoff with waiting until other cuts come through.

I'm banking on the Panthers waiting for them to release them instead of wasting a pick..

agreed, but i wouldn't be upset at losing a 6th or 7th rounder for him.

btw...he wouldn't be lining up opposite gamble. munnerlynn would be doing that and he's done fine with that. hanson would be the slot guy. the dude is really good in that role. his size won't be/hasn't been a factor as most slot receivers are kind of small anyways.

That sucks the Raiders signed Lito... He was out there for awhile and IMO, if healthy was a much better option than Hanson.

And yes, we run a system much like Philly's, but if it's as good as Jim Johnson's version than we should be able to go to war with Gamble, Munny, and then whatever bums make the roster behind them... But, I have a feeling that McDermott isn't going to get out of CBs what Philly can out of theirs b/c his pressures aren't working and the DT position is horrible.

Hope someone full of potential or really established gets cut Saturday.

agreed that upgrade at DT will make the CBs look better.

still thinking that we would be better off getting someone like hanson. we need someone solid at covering the slot receiver and that is what hanson does well.

LOL agreed, but when I think of it in a simplistic way, then CB sounds like a bigger need than DT because when you put it that way, we have someone that can lock down the slot in Munny... But we would need someone to play the #2 WR to move him there. But if we bring in another guy just to play the slot, we have to trust that Munny can hold down the #2 spot (which I think he can).

It's clear both positions need to be addressed BIG time... From what the guys were saying on the TV broadcast last night, and from what Hurney said as well, we are definitely going to be doing some prospecting on that waiver wire... No doubt.

panthers need to pounce soon...

caplannfl I'm told the Eagles have released CB Joselio Hanson.

caplannfl Clearly the best nickel CB out there now. Hanson is outstanding in the slot. That's the role that he'll find with another team.

caplannfl Teams that make sense for Hanson based on need: Panthers, Lions, Browns, Rams for starters.

caplannfl Yes, Brandon McDonald has really improved, but Hanson is one of the better slot CBs. Just has a knack for playing inside.
