Should sports games be run like a RPG?

You know how in a RPG game, there are "experience points" that help characters "level up" so to say? Well say in Madden, players gain these experience points from playing well, and it helps them improve. I'm not sure how the Madden game works, I know it made some big changes to Franchise mode and player development. But it's just a thought. And likewise, experience points go down when the player performs poorly. There are probably already some of these elements in sports games, but not quite the same. Cam Newton scores a 99 for charisma!
