North myrtle beach?

The North and South Carolina coasts will get SLAMMED by this Hurricane. With Hurricanes, landfall is constituted by the eye of the storm making landfall (that's the middle) even if the eye stays over the water the bands around the eye is the where the strongest winds are located. I believe that as of the current models that I've seen the outer bands will be seen as far inland as Charlotte. If I were u (guy who is there just to watch the storm) I'd get the fug outta dodge! Otherwise you may get more than u bargained for.

If it does make landfall I'd expect it to make landfall right on top of your ass... Oh, and It's not just the Category 3 winds that you will have to worry about (Mr. I see the water from my front porch) have you ever heard of a storm surge? Also Hurricanes tend to bring hundreds if not thousands of tornadoes with them because of the instability of the atmosphere. Board up your little beach house and double check your insurance policy... This could get ugly. I hope it gets pushed well off shore so that u only see the outer bands... But it doesn't look likely to even make that turn until northern VA

I can't believe there are people this uneducated about Hurricanes that exist.

You know what I can't believe?

That there are people out there like you who like to scare people like him.

To the OP. Don't worry about it. Hunker down and get everything that is outside of the house (trash bins, furniture, potted plants) and either tie it down or get it in the house.

Get a couple of coolers full of ice, get a bunch of canned beer, get a bunch of candles and canned food, and relax.

This one ain't that big of a deal.

wilmington here. hurricane parties aplenty.

Cantrell lives in ILM??? We gotta meet.

Based on the latest track, we will get hurrricane force winds. MB will get some tropical winds... but who knows, these things have a mind of their own. It is moving so slowly now that the system coming down out of the great lakes may not affect it as much... could be trouble for us.

I have ridden out three of these with winds in excess of 100MPH, not a problem. The issue this time will be dead trees due to the fact that we haven't had one in years. Lots of power outage.

Model consensus trends are moving west with each model run. If you're in Myrtle, you better start your preparedness for a direct hit if you haven't already.

You should probably start following the Hurricane Irene discussions on AmericanWX.com in the Regional Weather/Southeastern States forum. You'll get updated track information long before you'll see it on TV.

Since the OP was posted on the Huddle, though, I have doubts about your ability to surf other websites or watch TV.
