most overrated player in NFL history

top dawg

O.J. Simpson, Brett Favre, Ray Lewis, Michael Vick?

Wow! Come on, guys. These are skilled football players, with two HOFERs.

Just because someone of their ability may have had slight drug problems, are (err, were) suspected murderers, covicted kidnappers and/or dog killers doesn't mean they were (and/are) overrated. ***tongue in cheek***

Could you imagine what barry sanders could have done behind the o-lines of the Cowboys in the 90's ? Another player currently that i think fits that emmith smith over-rated role is L.T. in san deigo. Maybe it's just me but when I hear some people talk about him being top 5 all time I just don't see it. I think he has played behind some pretty stout lines and he becomes good inside the 20 or in the redzone. But even at his peak I always felt there were always 3 or 4 backs better.

Woaaaa......that is just crazy talk.

LT is nearing 30, and is slowing a bit, but has had a first ballot HOF career in SD.

LT is at worst 4th, and at best 2nd all time. Lets don't get out of hand here.

Troy Aikman

You have to give the guy credit because of all his rings but seriously, the Cowboys would have won those Super Bowls with any slightly above average QB. Hell, Delhomme has a higher career QB rating and a better TD to Int ratio.

Okay, so maybe not the most overrated in history but I hate the Cowboys.

Vick was never a good quarterback. Good quarterbacks make those around him better and provide leadership. They don't throw teammates under the bus and flip off their fans.

Vick was always a very good athlete and was very fast running the ball. In 2004 they ran for more yards than they passed and Dunn had 1106 yards. Vick's 900 rushing yards were more important than the 2000 passing yards. Which makes him a wildcat player or option quarterback, not a true quarterback. HIs passing rating was a robust 78.

In the NFCCG against Philly he went 11 of 24 for 136 yards and ran for another 26. Awesome performance.

He was a poor quarterback, poor leader and poor human being most of all. Most true Atlanta fans are very happy to see him gone. Ryan as a rookie has shown me more than Vick did in his whole career.

Can y'all believe that Kerry Collins is poised to pass Joe Montana on the career passing yards this season?

Nope. I know it's true but it just doesn't seem right to even have Collins mentioned in the same sentence.

In fact, I won't be surprised if it doesn't happen. Either due to injury, Young regaining his job, or Collins simply not getting the required 3,158 yards. Hey, he only had 2,717 last season.

Old guys, help me out here.

Seems I remember an Ohio State running back named Hopalong Cassidy. I suppose the Hopalong part was a nickname, because there was a TV show at the time about the cowboy, Hopalong Cassidy.

Anyway, I don't seem to recall that he did anything in the NFL. But I remember the hype about him when he was a Buckeye.

That would seem to me to be a pretty big bust.

if an osu fan is hyping up a player you can pretty safely write them off
