Maybe..but his long hair doesn’t hurt his image it only enhances it. Same thing with Troy Polamalu it doesn’t hurt his image. Troy Polamalu will often say his long hair is cultural/spiritual for him and it hasn’t hurt his all American image at all. Now what if Cam Newton wanted to grow dreads and said it was because of his culture just like Polamalu. I don’t think he would get the same type of endorsements.

Bottom line is Jerry's comment is being made into something it wasn't. He likes Cam the way he is......if Cam got a tattoo tommorrow it would not cause any trouble. But if Cam liked tattoos he would already have them.

Well like you said, if Cam went and got one I don't think a big deal would be made of it. But I have a ton of tattoos and my work doesn't care because I'm a basement dwelling IT guy. Now the sales people that actually sell our model homes? It's actually written into their conduct manual that they cannot have any visible tattoos. So it's not really a one size fits all approach to the company. The world doesn't give two sh!ts about Jeremy Shockey, but they do care about Cam Newton. It doesn't really matter to me either way, and I think you have valid points, but I see where JR is coming from.
