In my brief stint as a server I did it a couple of times. It just happens when you both get off after a closing shift, and only one of you has a place to hang and party favors to unwind with. It was never bad when it was over because it was just casual.

I have seen good and bad in Workplace dating. Know a couple that met at work, got married and still work together. Thats spending to much time with the wife for me, but it works well for them. On the other hand, I worked with a guy who dated one of his coworkers while she was separated from her husband. She got back with her husband, and the work guy she was dating couldn't get over it. He eventually got hit with a sexual harrassment accusation and left for another position. Which didn't bother me, because he was not very good at his job anyway. :)

I watched a workplace romance blossom then explode in their faces.

Long story short, worked at a restaurant/bar for back in college. The kitchen manager was a guy in his 30s who had worked at the place for a few years and had clearly done this before. New young server girl gets hired, he put the moves on her, start banging, etc. Well they got really serious really fast, to the point where he mentioned he was thinking about marrying her. She ended up smashing parts with some other male server at the place and he was heart broken, so he took a baseball bat to her windshield and apparently peed in her car. He got fired and she quit soon after.

These things never end well.

In the professional World. Never.

My girlfriend and I worked together in a real estate office years ago. She wouldn't go on a date with me while we worked together. She got let go, and asked me to run her home as she had car pooled.

We have been together ever since. Almost 6 years.
