What does Cam have to do

I just want to see him grasp the offense this year. Next year I want to see the stats and wins begin to mount up. The haters are being rediculous. The kid has had a month of NFL practice and two preseason games. F*ckin A people.

I know they are. That's why I want to hear from them. Something like "grasping the offense" is too vague. I need a baseline.

How about 5 wins in 16 games. Jimmy didn't have 16 games but i'm giving Cam a little leeway.

And i find it funny you accusing me of alterior motives when i've been a huge supporter of Pryor playing quarterback and not wideout or tightend.

I said if you didn't then ulterior motives abound. Thanks for stepping up.

Wins and TDs is kinda irrelevant, as he could win games with the same style of football that won him games in college. That isn't sustainable.

I just want to see progression as a passer, improving his knowledge of the game and showing some ability to consistently hit receivers.

At the moment he is a raw physically impressive specimen, however he hasn't done anything to show he can be a long term starter in the league as a pure passer. If he can make that progression then I will be happy. If he can't, no need to give up, but I will be concerned we will be stuck with a QB who will never really be good enough as a passer to win consistently.

I guess it's not wins and TDs, it's how he gets them.

Its really tough to predict what stats would be good for him at this point. We need to find out more about how are recievers not named Steve Smith are gonna perform. How healthy is the 0-line gonna be all season. How much pressure is taken off of him by the running game and play calling.

If Cam can be the reason we won games or would have won games more than the reason we didn't win games I'd say thats a good start.

More TD's than INT's .. Always needs to put blame on himself .. Needs to win at least 6.

Good one.

I would also, I would like to him to find great chemistry with one offensive recieving weapon. Don't care who....

Well, I think the obvious for most doubters/haters, is to become Andrew Luck.

seriously, do you need to do this? come on man. I like to think you're above this.

I just want to see his consistency improve. I would like to really be able to see he is the leader of the offense, and for him to give us a glimpse once or twice of what we can hope for the future. I would like for us to be able to look back at the season and see a quarter or a game where we can hang our hat on "That is what this offense is about with Cam Newton at quarterback."

I'm not looking for specific stats or numbers, not even for wins specifically (though obviously those should come as he improves). I'm more interested in how he is playing and what the offense is producing with him back there.

If wins are irrelevant, why the hell do they keep score? Who cares if he looks like Trent Dilfer, as long as he does his part to help us win games. This isn't a beauty contest.

I am looking forward to some of the responses in this thread. And hats off to Grits for having the balls to do so.
