Actually the bust rate and learning curve for Top 3 Picks leans more towards the DT position than QB.

I think Cam passes the eyeball test....now he just needs to work on his flaws.

of course if all you've done has been focusing on what negative things that were said about him and what was seen in two meaningless, non gameplanning pre-season games with many starters missing and you didn't go down to spartanburg to see what he is doing there, then i guess there hasn't been enough to persuade you otherwise. still ill-informed.

we all knew that there would be things he would have to learn and there was going to be an adjustment. there is evidence that he is grasping it at a good rate. those who have watched him practice have seen it and those who have been coaching him and working with him have seen it as well.

He's our #1 pick, not some 2nd round trade-up like Armanti. Of course he's going to be given the benefit of the doubt a majority of the time.

I'm not talking about busts, rather learning curves. Cam might end up being an average or possibly even a very good QB. My concern is on the off chance he can get it together qiuckly, with the tired examples of Ryan, Flacco and big Ben aside...how many loses will we endure while our QB learns to translate his game to the pro level?

To your point, a bust DT drafted high will at worst still be okay, just not the anchor that the franchise hopes to build the D-line around for the future.

Given we are running Chud's O....DT seems to be a much bigger issue. #2 WRs aren't really big factors when the Clev or SD had been running smoothly. His O looks more to revolve around the #1 WR, TE, and RB when ideally functioning.

yep smitty& olsen should combine for 150 catches, shockey should get 40 or so & our rb's might combine for close to a 100, that doesn't leave much for anybody else

i'm not going to put much stock into the lack of production after 2 preseason games. there are far too many variables to consider there. a lot of injuries and starters being held out for most of the game as well as a lack of planning/preparation, plus early season jitters...that's to be expected.

if there hasn't been an improvement in the 3rd game, i might get a little concerned. after all, he will have more of his starters in and they will be in for longer. they will have been gameplanning and preparing for this game in a way that they haven't been. it should more closely resemble what has been done in practice. i still don't think that they will have much of the playbook opened up for this game, nor should they, but it should be a markedly better outting for the team.
