Rewind back to April

wouldn't change a thing except for hogan. went just the way i hoped it would, otherwise.

can't believe that people are wanting to hit the rewind button at this point, though. it's like getting past the intro credits and saying...meh, let's do something else.

If the draft didn't go the way you want it, you be doing some speculating as well.

You missed my next post where I said I wanted a legit vet. You are going on the the assumption that no competition would have been brought in for Jimmy. I'm sure Smitty would not have had a problem with a QB like Kolb.

Fine, but you need to think this through.

So we go for Kolb. For starters, to be competitive with Arizona's bid, we have to offer them our best player. Maybe a sign and trade for Charles Johnson. Plus we would be giving up future picks. So now we have yet another big hole on our team, plus less ability to fill spots in the future. All for a QB that is just as likely to be a flop as Cam, if not more so.

Or maybe you would have preferred we paid 9 million for Hasselbeck. Matt frickin Hasselbeck.

Or drafted Andy Dalton and his 30 QB rating so far.

You may turn out to be right long term, maybe Cam won't pan out. But I think it would at least be appropriate to wait a few games to see what he actually does on the field before second-guessing Hurney and Rivera's decision.

meh...i was used to the franchise not doing what i wanted it to with fox. that had been going on for years. still, i always got on board and at least waited to see how things turned out. we don't know yet. just don't see the point in it. carry on, though.

Why does everything always have to be about Cam, really? I was a proponent of drafting a DT, NOT a QB (any QB) it's as simple as that. It has nothing to do with Cam Newton. Furthermore, with defense sewn up and a veteran QB, we'd have a chance for a better season. That's just my opinion.

good point, outside of Hogan there is nothing yet to use hindsight on....no one has played a down yet.

It is not specifically about Cam. Another option would have been Gabbert. The point is, we needed help at QB desperately, and there just wasn't much out there at a reasonable price in the veteran market.

And that's the problem I saw with drafting Dareus at number 1. I like him a lot as a player and god knows we needed help at DT. But we had to do something at the most important position on the field, and the options were very limited.

Time will tell. There is no "right answer" to this question yet, and won't be until we see all these guys perform on the field for awhile.

That would be a down that counts, but if that were the case we'd all just talk about the weather for the next 2-1/2 weeks then. I think the interior D-line has looked very shakey, yes even though it's just the preseason. This is the very reason why I and others were firmly in the Dareus camp. Maybe they can pull it together, I sure hope so. I'm not sure they can turn around such lackluster play that quickly though. I'd be happy if they proved me wrong.

cam was the only QB worth taking at that spot. the only other one would have been luck.

gabbert was massively overrated.

wasn't a fan of the dareus pick early either. he's just not a dynamic player. it would have just been a "safe" pick. it was needed, but the DT class had a lot of depth that we benefited from. the QB class outside of newton really wasn't very valuable.

if we didn't go after newton i was wanting PP or aj green.

newton was the right call, though. he stands to make a bigger more positive impact on the team than any other player in the draft could have.
