I think most people say that because even with Smith on the field, catching one hoppers off the turf still don't count...he may catch more of them but it will net little to no yards...just like they do now

I understand that, but you have to see it like I do. The majority (from what I recall of his throws that bounced off the turf) of those bad passes are from having to be in the pocket too long waiting on receivers. Furthermore, I concluded my post by saying the OL needs to play better to give Cam that additional time. Because even with Smith, our other receivers are still going to struggle some getting open due to lack of experience. When Cam can stand tall and really step into his throws, his accuracy is damn near perfect (I say damn near because he has missed throws even with no pressure).

Basically, I see your point, just saying that the backfoot throws are the cause of the majority of the bounced passes, and the backfoot throws are caused by, in large, the OL not protecting well enough. Cam will adjust and understand exactly what to do as he gets more experience. This past game, from what I was being told (since I couldn't watch most of the 2nd quarter on), Cam was moving really well in the pocket. Hopefully he continues to progress.

If Cam can fix his lazy feet his accuracy would skyrocket. He has good footwork dropping back but after his first read I've seen (so far) its kinda like he has cement blocks tied to his feet.

Here's to hoping he is the man vs the Bungholes.

Just so happens I think you are lying to yourself if you think, right now, he doesn't. Jimmy has out performed in every category thus far...how can anyone say otherwise?

Just by watching Cam move around? know what I see when I watch Cam move around? Nother ball in the dirt or a short run that still doesn't get a first down.

Arm strength means absolutly nothing...hell I can throw a football through a chain link fence...problem is; I can't hit the damn fence

So that makes him ready to start? Over someone that is clearly outperforming him? Because he doesn't have time under the "lights"? Please!

Exactly what I'm trying to say...forgetting last year...wipe it out of your mind. Two rookie QB's competing for a Job...one QB has better stats in every sinlge category exccpt yards per CARRY (which he is only .9 yards behind). Who would you have start? Thought so!

Have you been charting practice as well?? Or know what is going on in the film room?? We don't really know who is outperforming who on a day to day basis in all actuality.

We fans just latch onto the few moments we see in a couple preseason games.

Also taking a grand total of 3 quarters for Clausen and 4 quarters for Cam and trying to make something of those numbers is ludicrous.

By that logic Clausen is also a better QB than Drew Brees bc his preseason stats are better. *smh*

heard it here first, Teeray is such a crazy cam hugger he thinks Cam should start over a better QB than Drew Brees! :willy_nilly: I guess that makes sense if cam is a GOAT ;)

People get mad because someone points out something their favorite QB needs to improve on, then respond with "Oh, yea look at this stat", twisting everything in their favor.

Look at mechanics, accuracy, and points scored. Point being points are the main stat you should look at, do you guys get my point about points?

Yes but who takes points / stats seriously vs. a 2nd or 3rd string D? I hear you though

Well, you also should take into account that who ever is QB is in there with our 2nd and 3rd string offense. We haven't really seen a Cam/Jimmy competition with all our healthy starters out there. Usually the starter gets the healthy 1's and the backup get mostly 2's.

Another reason I think stats in Preseason pretty much dont mean anything

Exactly. But if you say "oh, Clausen looked better Cam tonight" people would respond with alot of stats.

And if people don't think preseason points mean anything guess again. The points matter, not the stats or QB ratings, but putting together drives that end in points are huge.
