Hurricane Irene..

Careful dude. Cane waves are really really powerful.

Last time I rode some I snapped my board in half, and damn near my neck.

I am too old for that poo.

no way i'm going out in anything bigger than 5 with my current level of skill, and i don't want to mess with chop either. swell-info makes it look like it will be nasty!

Good call. Back when I did surf a ton I thought that riding double overheads was cool. I was wrong.

The largest I would even consider now is about 6 ft. and even then, it would make me nervous.

how early? are we just going to sit in the slip, or do you like to go out in waters like we'll see?

also you never told me what size your wetsuit is.

Depends on the wind and rain. If the cane is here, I will probably already have the boat out of the water, if it slips offshore, we can go out and about.

I was thinking like 12 ish. Leaving the dock for a few hours. I have to go to Raleigh for a wedding and will be leaving around 6ish.

Forgot all about the wetsuit. Will look tonight.

last bad storms that I went through- I lived near Wilmington in Middle Sound- we were without power for 10 days after Fran and for 5 days after Floyd- I lost count of how many eyes passed over my place there on Middle Sound in the 90's

Dont let anyone tell you the backside of the storm isnt dangerous- during Floyd one of the local weather casters said that and after the calm of the eye passed over us the poo really started to hit the fan.

Not looking forward to the next few days of preps and then the cleanup afterward if it hits. Hope it doesnt hit as one above a 2 at the worst. Best case it stays off shore.

I knew the second I moved to Wilmington there would be a hurricane. Should have placed some money on it in Vegas, would be rich! Oh well, always wanted to go through a hurricane.

If you live in a well built apartment building there isnt much too it - If youre a home owner with a yard or worse own a big place with lots of trees and livestock to care for it sucks
