I think the biggest problem was the fact that they didn't know if it would make landfall as a cat 3 or not. It was either going to get big between FL and NC or it was going to start to diminish in strength. They said wtf and called for a larger storm.

some of the death's here were more stupidity related than hurricane related. a co-worker told me this morning that one was a guy who decided to go swimming in the cape fear during the storm. another was considered hurricane related but it was really more medical. the guy had a heart attack while boarding up his house.

So now we are going to judge Hurricanes on the Katrina/Andrew scale before they are bad. Please go and tell the people all over NE that it wasn't that bad.

They did a great job predicting the path... not so much on the strength but they weren't that far off... too bad the media are so ratings hungry that they have to over-dramatize things.

My friend's house up in Aurora, NC was legit picked up from it's foundation and floated away. It's a total loss. So don't underrate small storms just because they were small.

Oh yeah... people that live in low lying areas or flood prone areas should always be prepared even for small storms. My problem is that the media so overblew this storm that was supposed to affect "30 million people" and all that do the public a disservice by spreading that type of hype and over-dramatization.

I agree that the media did over do it a bit, but humans have a "pics or it didn't happen" mentality. Better be to safe than sorry, just imagine if more people had stayed in certain ares and had been killed because they were not told to leave? I don't really have a with the media coverage or the Government precautions.
