Trade Clausen to the Colts

I actually like Clausen more than Cam. Cam has not impressed me yet, and neither has Clausen, but Clausen has the edge in experience, albeit slightly.

Cam will be the QB, like it or not. Front office will look like fools if anyone but Cam is QB.

We took Clausen in the second when many teams had already passed in two rounds, and that was when many thought he'd be a decent quarterback in this league. He's yet to really show any promise -- why would teams give us a second round pick for him?

I could agree if you said that you see a bunch of brittle players that can't stay healthy. Peyton definitely makes them all look better, but there is no lack of talent on that offense.

IF Clausen is traded then this makes sense. he will be behind Manning and learn from him and maybe in time actually become a good quarterback.

I seriously doubt that anyone would trade for Clausen, but, I would be extremely happy if the Panthers got a 6th round pick out of him.

Because Cam Newton is pretty clearly going to start for the Panthers this year. Keeping Clausen around might end up being a detriment if Newton struggles early and has to look over his shoulder. Newton was picked #1 overall and will be given every chance to win the job. Clausen SHOULD start, but he won't, so why not trade him if we can get something for him. Colts are a team in need of a QB right now, and getting one that can start AND potentially succeed Peyton Manning is a pretty good deal.
