It's real hard to get behind him when over half the posters here think his poo doesn't stink. In fact he has many flaws and needs a lot of work. I do think he will eventually become a good QB but now it's still a work in progress. But if you bring this up your labeled a hater and that just gets old.

I agree he has lots to work on....

but if you can't get excited about what he can possibly bring to this team then I think there is something wrong......and there are plenty of posters who do there best to downplay all his positives ( and there are a lot).

Cam IMO for a rookie looks the part and has displayed great decision making thus far.....mechanics are without a doubt something that needs great improvement on.......but who didn't know that coming in.

I'll agree with that 100% when it comes to Cam supposed greatness.

but if you can't get excited about what he can possibly bring to this team then I think there is something wrong......and there are plenty of posters who do there best to downplay all his positives ( and there are a lot).

I'm excited for this team. But to have people say we are going 16- 0 because we have Cam is insane. At least give him 2 or 3 years then I'll be more apt to believe it.

BTW I do think he should start over Jimmy. Jimmy's game is a WCO and he would be more than adequate in that type of O. See I'm not a Cam hater. Just a hater of the nuthuggers.

I agree the team was horrible, but it does make a QB look bad when the offense doesn't convert a single third down because the QB is the leader. Not saying it was all his fault, but being the QB he will get most of the blame.

I think it is a positive that Cam has lead the offense to more first downs that Clausen......despite getting less drives. The game just looks like it will be easier for Cam when he matures over Clausen.

I can find you a poster who says we would be a playoff team if we hadn't of drafted him.....

Cam is a work in progress....all things considered he he ahead of where it was assumed he would be given his rawness and shortened offseason (if you were realistic about what he was entering the NFL).....which makes the Cam hate just that much more absurd.

In my opinion, you start Cam if Otah is back and healthy. If not, throw Clausen back out there. Apparently, from what I have seen this team can't run the ball consistently without Otah.

Seriously, name me one credible poster who thinks we are going 16-0 with Newton as QB. In fact name me a credible poster who thinks we will even go to the playoffs with Newton at QB this year. After watching him fail to score a TD through the air or ground or even lead us on an extended drive consistently, who thinks things are going to change that quickly when real bullets are flying.

Clausen might of been the most pro ready if he went to an offense that catered to what he does well......he is smart.

Clausen's physical skill set factored w/ how he plays the game just made Carolina a horrific landing spot for him......and fitting is half the battle.

Why can't any of you admit that Cam is NOT playing great? His accuracy has been below average. He was not able to outrun and run over NFL defenders Thurs like he did in college.

Becuase you know what? That is OK. He is a rookie QB who is going to get better. He has a great work ethic and great skills. But, he is NOT a great QB yet.

Agree - Clausen would be NFL ready in a pure WCO - best thing for him is to be traded. Until he proves otherwise, he's not anywhere near capable executing a vertical offense. That said, it would be nice to see what he can do with a healthy running game and good tight ends. He didn't have near the fire power that Cam will this year after all the money the team just spent - luck of the draw I guess. Cam is also going to get a chance to play one of the NFLs worst defenses on Thursday, something that should send him off to the regular season with confidence.

All this said -Rivera knows that one way or another both of these QBs will be playing this year so they need to be ready. Either Cam will have some downers and get benched temporarily, or he will get hurt. Sh*t always happens..

Hard to understand why any of what you said is news to anyone. It shouldn't be. I agree completely. Newton is not playing well and anything who expected him to after being in the NFl for 3 weeks is pretty crazy.

While I don't think it will take 2 or 3 years to learn enough to start in this league, 2011 is surely going to be a learning experience.
