beason might not be ready for week 1...

Recommended Posts

As I have said before, I dealt with nagging tendinitis in my achilles throughout my high school athletic days. There is no sense in rushing him back and asking him to play if he is anything less than 100%. All it takes is one wrong step on a bum achilles that was strained to begin with to put him out for another 6-7 weeks.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather wait until he is fully prepared to go and completely healthy before risking more games than just the first. After all, it is the Cardinals and a very winnable game without Beason. I love the guy just as much as the rest of us but this is an injury that can be easily aggravated if 52 was to come back too soon.

Even though Beason is probably the best player on the team, we have sufficient depth at MLB to ease the pain of losing him for a while. I would much rather he miss a couple games early than lose him for an entire season or more if he ruptures his achilles.

Folks need to chill. You act like with Beason out, now we are going to be in trouble where as with him we are a playoff contender.

Why would we jeopardize our star linebacker who we just signed for 5 more years to get him in right away when we are going to take our lumps this year as well. Might as well give other guys experience and see what we have. It isn't as if he will make the difference between 5-11 and 11-5.
