The vast majority of us don't hate Cam at all. I can't speak for everyone, but I just don't want him to start early, because I worry he'll end up like our last rookie "franchise" quarterback when it becomes clear he's not ready. I acknowledge Cam has a higher ceiling, but I also think he is further back than some other posters.

I hope I'm wrong.

Clausen would play in the regular season just like he did last year.....just like he did in Spartanburg and just like he is in the preseason. Safe. Look to checkdown to soon.....and have no pocket presense which will ultimately doom the entire team.

Why is it when one player throws only a handful of balls deep in a half, it's because his WRs aren't open, but when another player only throws a handful of balls deep, it's because he won't throw deep? Jimmy did make deep passes in camp and in both of these last two games, and in actual game time they were pretty close on that front.

Jimmy has seen huge strides in pocket presence, as well. Our O-Line made Cam "I own the Pocket" Newton look jittery and unsettled for much of the 2nd quarter, so it's no surprise it was getting to Clausen in the first game, but I honestly didn't see him look anything like he did at times last year. In the second game, Jimmy actually moved around and got out of trouble a couple times and kept the chains moving.

I have no doubt Cam has better arm strength, but Jimmy's plenty capable of running this offense. Perhaps not as well as, say, Philip Rivers, but we have no idea if Cam is, either. I do hope Cam reaches his perceived ceiling, just like I hope Clausen will. Ultimately where we disagree is where Clausen is now, especially in relation to Cam.

I think it makes sense to start Cam, because we do have a ton invested in him. Jimmy didn't really stand out, but he did improve. He'll keep improving, too, and hopefully make a good backup for the next year or two.

Clausen wasn't drafted to be our franchise QB. You can't claim someone was drafted to your franchise QB when he wasn't drafted for the team/coaches on the field. He wasn't drafted for Fox or Rivera.

but the success/bust rate is the same if you sit or start a 1st round pick.......so there really isn't a point in worry too much over it.

dude, Hurney told him he was drafted to be our franchise Qb. I'm sorry if you have issue with that. Dam near the entire fanbase saw him as our "qb of the future." It doesn't matter if Fox/Rivera didn't draft him, we thought we'd be building around him.

where is that stat coming from, btw? I hadn't seen it.

Sometimes you have to make up words when one that exists doesn't fit.

The other day, I made up the word "revenually" and it worked out well for me

I kinda like reventually. Not sure in what context I could use it, but it has a nice ring to it. Very Alexander Haig-like.

Fact remains he wasn't drafted for Fox's Panthers nor Rivera's Panthers. Again, that would be like John Elway and the Broncos getting Reggie Bush and then hiring John Fox and Denver claiming Bush was going to be the workhorse and featured RB. It doesn't work backwards like that. QBs have to fit systems....and that is why teams get QBs that fit what there coaches want. Therefore he was not legitimately drafted to be our franchise QB. That was just talk you are refering to....nothing more.

Who thought we would build around him?? Carolina drafted him b/c they didn't know what they would do going forward....they ended up hiring Rivera and Chud. Clausen was just a QB who was worth the cost. He was talent......they potential could fit if they went in a certain direction after Fox. They didn't go that direction.

Have to search old threads. It is broken down about the bust/success rate looking at the last decade. I mean it is subjective......in terms of what is a bust vs. success.

I work in accounting/finance so and I had to send an email to our systems people to see if two accounts were linked "Revenually" meaning revenue was only taken on one job but it accounted for both.

They were linked contractually, but not revenually and they needed to be.

Ah, I misread it. While yours is probably fully appropriate, I like reventually more. It's like eventually all over again.

Ok, back to the subject at hand, hater.;)
