Inside the Numbers - Cam vs Clausen - Plus a guest appearance

If Jimmy had the talent to be in the guy you want him to be I'm sure he could of flashed something, anything last year just through talent alone. I didn't see it. Hypothetically I would like to think all the greats as rookies would have at least flashed some great plays even in the worst of situations. To me Jimmy at best well be someone you go to in a pinch..or someone you ask to manage a short range west coast offense.

So answer this, why is he showing more flashes than Cam now? Cam certainly has more to work with than Clausen did; his rookie year.

BTW, last time I checked...5 yard passes to the flats gets you a lot more first downs that balls skipped off the dirt...And I think we all noticed what he can do with his legs against NFL Linebackers...this isn't college anymore.

Yep he may not have, but how many of those guys I mentioned had the adversity that Clausen did?

Lame Duck Coach

Hurt O-line

Ones that were not hurt under performed (SS)

Hurt Running backs

Rookie WR

Young D

...Shall I continue?

I can't think of any rookie QB that has ever had to come into a situation like Clausen did last year and yet we expected him to be GREAT?!

Come on everyone, at least try to use come common sense...even on the interntet!

I didn't expect Clausen to be great, but I expected to see some level of greatness from him at some point... or hell, I would have settled for some level of great play for more than a drive or two every 4 weeks. =|

but as I said, I'm hoping he'll really turn the corner.

Do you feel like every pass from Cam will be overthrown or in the dirt? Because the chances are just as good, if not better, with his footwork

This is the problem. With Cam, even if the target is wide open theres a decent chance he might not get it to him. It's like we're between a rock and a hard place choosing a qb.

I agree, but I look at it this way.

Did the coaching staff actually try to "coach" anyone?aa

If they did, what was their record on coaching young QB's in the past?

Did the coaching staff really give a fudge about the season at all?

As for the flashes you talk about. When Moore was getting benched for Jimmy it was because Jimmy showed those flashes. No one here remembers them because they happened early. As the season went down hill the fan base found a scap goat...ahla Jimmy

Well it's not like Jimmy didn't also sail one 50 feet over a guys head with no pressure either lol

Cam is throwing inaccurate when he is sensing what he thinks as pressure, a common rookie thing..I know with Cam though he will at least be able to get the ball out and not just curl up in a fetal position when he's got a hand on him.

Moore was benched for Jimmy because Moore sucked a week after a concussion (and sucked the previous week when he got the concussion too) and Jimmy had half a good drive and Fox was desperate for a spark on offense...

Jimmy proved just ineffective, and lost the competition to Moore during the bye.

Moore got benched cause he was sucking, had nothing to do with Clausen.

Pretty sure Jimmy won it back though. Why else did he start 10 games?

BTW speaking of Moore...he doesn't look bad when the people around him play well huh?
