Rewatching the Panthers-Dolphins Game (Reactions)

So, after last night, we all had some pretty bad knee jerk reactions to the game. Yes, it was bad, and yes, there were a few problems, but, after the rewatching the first half, I have to say, it's not as bad as I originally thought.

- Cam looked better the second time I watched the game. Sure, he made some bad passes, but he also made some really, really nice passes. He also chooses the right times to run. He came up a yard or two short once, and one time he misjudged the blocking, but, overall, his decisions to run are well-timed.

- The DBs are not that good. This was my initial reaction last night, and I still think it. I know that Brandon Marshall is Brandon Marshall, but, there were other receivers (Fasano, Bess, etc) who were wide open on multiple plays. We need a DB like no other position on the field. I don't think the DT is as bad as the DB position, because at least we have bodies there.

- Speaking of the DTs, I don't think they played as badly as originally thought. I don't think they did well by any means, but, I don't think they did horribly. At the midway point of the 2nd half, we had McClain and Hayden going up against Pouncey, Incognito, and Colombo. What did we really expect to happen?

- Speaking on that note, the Dolphins kept most of the first string offense on the field during the 2nd quarter, against our 2nd team defense. There's a reason for the line of scrimmage being dominated.

Also, on the rewatch of the game, I was watching the Miami broadcast of the game. At one point Dick Stockton said that Ryan Kalil was resigned before the game, making him the highest paid center in the NFL.

There was a brief second of awkward silence.

Then other two Miami announcers said they had never heard of the guy.

w.t.f.?

DB's got smoked. But we also didn't have starting LB's in there right? I watched most of the first half and I didn't see Anderson, Beason, or Davis in there. The video quality was low but I didn't hear their names at all that first half.

But the whole defense wasn't playing that great, so it will make the DB's look extra bad. No pressure from the blitz or standard 4 man rush gave Henne all kinds of time.

Still would have liked to see better DB play though.

The Oline was the most bothersome thing. Hopefully they were just "practicing" while the Dolphins threw a lot of diffferent looks at them.

Their inability to block led to the 3-outs. Which kept our D out there forever...

Butterfly effect.

Dolphins had a mix of 1st and 2nd stringers in the 2nd qtr. no bess, no marshall, no bush. And played the entire game without Jake Long.

Yeah, but, there was also three starting linemen against four back-up defensive linemen. It certainly showed.

Also, get used to not seeing Reggie Bush a lot. Going off past play, he can only rush about 6-10 times a game, and catch about 5-8 passes.

Pouncey is a rookie, and we just moved vernon carrey to right guard last week after he played 7 season at RT. With Marc Colombo and Lyndon Murtha as our starting tackles.....we dont exactly have the 1990s dallas cowboy offensive line bro.

Colombo + Incognito + Carrey > Everett Brown + McClain + Hayden + Eric Norwood almost any day of the week.
