Winners & Losers: Dolphins Game Edition

I had to calm down some of my friends last night that were thinking that our entire season is over because of last nights game. We have a new coach and system, very limited practice, a rookie QB and basically the same in the other and a lot of our starters are out. What does everyone expect? We all knew coming into this season that it would take several years before this team would click. It takes time.

In todays NFL, time is not an option. It's win now or heads roll.

so in other words the season IS over, at least as far as having a winning record, making the playoffs, ect, is concerned

Anybody who thinks that Cam looks like crap or unprepared to start needs to get their eyes checked or learn a little about football. No, he's not going to challenge for MVP. But he will help us win football games. If you think last night's game was indicative of ALL his talents and what he can do, you're crazy. We ran the ball 3 fuging times in the 1st quarter. On, what, 3 drives? We weren't concerned with winning last night. Who gives a damn if we lost by 10 points? We could have lost by 50 as long as we are getting better by the experience.

If you think Rivera game-planned last night like Sporano most certainly did (I mean, he could lose his job if he doesn't make the playoffs), you need to wake the fug up. Last night was for Cam to go through his progressions and make good decisions. Was he perfect? No. But he played well. Needs to stop throwing off his back foot and he will be FINE to start as a rookie. Last night was for our DL to step up and show the coaches what they got? Did they impress anybody? Other than the near goal-line stand, no. But, there is a LOT of film on them to review and see what they need to do to correct the issues.

we ran the ball 3 times on 2 drives... I'm not sure what you expect them to do, run it on 3rd and 8?

people have a legit question as to why we got away from the running game in the 2nd quarter, but in the first we were running, it just wasn't doing anything.

also lol @ sparano game planning for a preseason game so he makes the playoffs.

I am saying running clearly wasn't an emphasis. We picked up a first down on the first 2 drives I believe.

What I meant by Sparano is that he is game planning now because he wants to show his FO that he can do the job. Sort of get a head start and see what he can rely on in the regular season to hopefully get him to the playoffs. lol @ you not reading the context of my posts.

We picked up a first down on the second play of the first series (after running it, then we ran it after that pass). We then picked up a first down on the first play of the next series. We had 7 first or 2nd down plays, with 3 runs. That's not really abandoning the running game.

Maybe it is just Fox-ball ruining me. I kinda wanted a draw on 3rd and 8. :leaving:

I understand what you mean - I felt like what they did was say, "Ok, running game isn't working. Let's see if we air it out a bit if Cam can make it work."

As to Sparano game planning, it's possible, but one thing you have to keep in mind is that Nolan is a freaking amazing DC, and he's got a VERY strong, veteran defense that is extremely deep. I think it's too easy to dismiss how they played against us as just gameplanning. When you have deficiencies at major positions like we do, you have to gameplan to address them. If you're generally solid, it's not the same.

Sparano "gameplanned" on offense in so far as they wanted to see what Reggie Bush had, but I really don't think there was anything more to it than that. Their offense wasn't all that remarkably different from last week I didn't think save that it was executed better.

Maybe Anderson should start the next game for a couple of series so that Cam and JC can watch and learn from from someone who has been in the OC's system. They probably haven't had enough practice time to do that.

Not in the the plans according to Rivera..which leads me to believe he's already made up his mind who is starting game one if Anderson isn't going to get a shot.

both QBs didn't look good, in my opinion they looked about the same. Cam tried to throw the ball downfield, and jimmy had his patented checkdowns.

neither looked stellar, neither looked like they deserved the starting job.

I'm on the start Anderson bandwagon right about now.

Agree only if he smiles alot and gives us a good sound clip in the post game presser
