Since Riv said he wants to use the 3rd game as a "mock game" and treat it like the first game of the year I don't think he can wait and risk wasting valuable reps.

He needs to bite the bullet and realize he should wait and make the 4th game the mock game. But if he's going to go ahead and do what he said, he should start Cam since he's the future and hasn't been a liability. In the preseason Cam and Clausen have pretty much played evenly, but Cam has an edge by extending plays and is mobile. Also has a rocket of a arm and not afraid to make plays downfield. When we get our starters back, Cam will look even better.

I don't understand the rush to start Cam week 1.

He needs a lot of work on his footwork, and if you rush him out there you run a huge risk of making that problem worse. His accuracy will NEVER improve until he gets his mechanics right.

Ease him in, work on those mechanics, then once he's got it down let him grow in the game environment. If you don't get the mechanics fixed first you run the risk of turning a bad problem into a disastrous problem.

Sutton isn't going anywhere, he's too versitile.

The real question is, "Is Jimmy so far ahead of Cam that he has to start??" If it is even a doubt Cam gets the nod IMO.

That is a prediction not my opinion on it. Right now I don't know who I would start.

I think Clausen is doing just enough to start. Same ol, Same ol to me; Clausen relies on the check down too much. That aint going to win us games.

I just don't see how you draft a QB #1 and don't start him. Give him plenty of 3-5 yard passes and mix in a long shot to keep him in the grove. You just cannot let a man like Cam sit with the #1 pick over his head. Clausen is not the future, just trade bait.
