At least Cam Newton through it down field when we needed to yards. All I see Clausen doing in checking down, for the most part.

One thing that gave us a record of 2-14 last year...

Rookie or no, CAM is our best bet this season, IMHO.

last week play calling and defensive schemes were aggresive and right for down and distance...this week seems so random

They're most likely trying out different schemes they drew on the board during the week

People are also forgetting how shortened this offseason is. I was surprised how good we looked last week especially compared to many of the other teams. I remember watching at least 4 or 5 different pre-season games last week thinking "Ugh this is just ugly." Shortened off-season is going to be responsible for many of the issues you're seeing in games like tonight. Mental mistakes, blown coverages, missed blocking assignments, are all a part of having a brand new coaching staff in the shortest off-season in 20 years. It's gonna be nasty at times.
