Out of Market (TV) Huddlers

Just remember $300 a year is basically $20 per week. If you spend that at a sports bar instead of sending it to DirecTV you get beer, food and other people to watch games with. Now if you really prefer watching games on your own TV at home, get DirecTV, but the bar always seemed like a better deal to me.

If you're like me, then you can't get the games. There's a thread going on right now about PS3 and DirecTV, but if your smart (and broke), like me, there is no way you're going to give up $300+ to get in on the action; that is, if you're not already a customer.

So, what are your options?

Online streaming? How's the quality?

Sports bar where you're in the corner rooting by your lonesome? What do you drink? [side note: it's probably cheaper in the long run to subscribe to DirectTV's package]

Buddy's house? How's his wife when she tells you to turn the volume down?

Wait until we play an in-market team?

I'm not really all that computer and TV savvy, so I usually just go to the bar. What are the best options? I know there's a way to hook up your computer to the TV if you do online streaming, but I don't know where to begin as far as that goes.

Comments, suggestions, flaming?

Go to a sports bar. Get some food, hang out with a couple other panthers fans (or by yourself) and watch the game. You can yell all you want there.

I'm in texas

Been a directv subscriber for 2 years.

Called today, told them I wanted Sunday ticket and ticket to go for free or I was going to dish.

Bam, saved ~$350, got my panthers in hd on my phone and on my tube.

Jokes on you, they were already including it. Way to haggle

I'm in Manhattan, I just go to my friends sports bar in Astoria where you can pick which tv you want, volume and what not. Free food, cheap pitchers, etc. I'm done with online streams for a while, its not reliable enough and I'm a little tired of watching it through my computer (don't have a tv). Plus I can't get DirecTV in my building, only Time Warner.

I am curious as to whether any of you guys use a Slingbox to watch the games? I'm moving out of market but have someone in NC who is willing to let me put a TV in their spare bedroom. It isn't ideal but DirectTV is a no go and I know I'll end up spending entirely too much money if I went out for the games every Sunday.

No. It's sort of next to downtown. The trendy nerds call it RAMBO (right after Manhattan Bridge Overpass). Gold St. Next to Vinegar Hill and Fort Greene. :)

I gotcha, hadnt heard the RAMBO phrase thrown out there yet only DUMBO, but I know where youre speaking of. I like the Fort Greene area but Smith St is my favorite while 5th and 7th Aves are nice in Park Slope.
