Would anyone get excited about Taylor Mays?

It would make sense for the Panthers, but why would SF do even Mays for Clausen straight up?

They're ooking to get rid of Mays, and Clausen would actually fit their offense better than he does ours.

Don't really see it happening, but it's not that farfetched.

I was laughing for three pages..a second for Claussen...AND Taylor Mays?! He would be incredible in the defensive scheme as a blitzing safety or as a weakside linebacker hybrid.

dont agree with a 2nd, BUT if you think that Mays for Clausen is a bad deal for the 49ers than you need to watch Taylor Mays more. he stunk last year, that's why he's on the trade block, now he has potential and i think a team can tap it and same with Clausen, i think a trade (player for player) could help BOTH teams. the 49ers dont want Mays and Clausen fits them and we dont want Clausen and Mays could help us.

Kinda like our bust of a QB. Id rather have Mays develop in a box SS/ Lber like Thomas Davis was in his first few.

i havent heard of Mays wanting to make a switch to linebacker, so i wont compare him to Davis and for many reasons including the fact that Mays is faster.

i agree here, he does fit their system, if i am right, it's a west coast offense and that will fit his skills and with Harbaugh as the coach, it could help Clausen develop. As for the trade, i also agree, i dont see it happening.

@ MW Carolina

i make the comparison because Thomas Davis was awful as a safety..similar coverage skills in the NFL. He would be an in the box safety with tools to cover..dangerous blitzers.

i understand, but if i am right, one was a strong safety/linebacker in college while Mays was a free safety (in college), plus i dont think Mays wants to move.

Prolly right...

He needs to consider it.

he should, but i think he can be a good safety with work. i wouldnt mind seeing him on another team i like in Washington either, but if Carolina can trade Clausen for Mays, i think it would be a good deal for both teams. Kaepernick isnt near ready to start and maybe Harbaugh could fix Clausen, never know and Mays could be a good backup or possibly start if Carolina decides to move Godfrey or Martin to cornerback
