Stacking your plates makes more work for the restaurant. It means they have to wash the bottom of the plates too.

Hah, 99% of restaurants just put those things on a huge plastic rack and run it through an industrial dishwasher. If you don't stack them yourself they get stacked at the dish pit by the waitstaff when they clear their trays.

I've mentioned my pops thoughts on tipping.

My father tips 15%. He said that the price of food has increased so much that the 15% has also increased.

Dinner used to be $50 and the waitstaff got $7.50. Now dinner costs $80 so they get $12.

I thought his observation was interesting to say the least.

it's called pre-busing your table. I do it because after being in the business for 13 years, I can't help but do it. It's habit and I hate sitting there with dirty dishes all over my table. it's not more work for the restaurant it makes it easier to carry to back to the dishwasher

Auto tipping usually only happens when there are more than 6 people in your group..and it's up to the server whether or not to use it. If it's a group of middle aged women drinking water..you bet your ass I'm gonna auto grat you..middle aged men? probably not

If you cannot afford to tip or don't want to.. Don't go out. Plain and simple. It's not rocket science.

And finally, don't be a jackass to your server..don't fug with the people that are the last to touch your food and your drinks. I have gotten back and I have gotten even. I have seen other servers do it too and it's gross
