2 months to have a perfect body for the rest of your life

Id like you exercise demons get back to us this time next year and tell us how that worked out for yall.

I believe he's saying that if you work out and eat right and look and feel better about yourself...then you'll most likely keep it up even after the program to maintain and validate all of your hard work.

I actually prefer a good mix of p90x and Insanity. Insanity isn't going to do anything for muscle development. I do the following and have been loving it so far. P90x was getting stale so throwing in some of the Insanity Plyo has helped mix it up.

Chest/Back p90x

Insanity Plyo

Shoulders and Arms p90x

Insanity Plyo

Legs and Back p90x

Random Insanity workout.

Subbing out the p90x yoga is almost a must.

  • 1 month later...

Excuse me while I write a novel, but...

Man, that is awesome that DP had already made this post. I had been mulling over whether I should make a thread about it for awhile and so I used the forum search function, you know, GOOGLE (lol), to look it up... And here we are.

I just bought the program new off of Amazon about a month to a month and a half ago and it took me awhile to get started.

Some of you already know, but I played JUCO basketball in 07-08 and actually had some opportunities to play DII when I was transferring out, but instead, I opted to go to UNC because my wife was already here, the education was great, and we already had two children at the time.

After that, I kind of got down about my own athletic goals and lost motivation... And in doing so, I got in the worst shape of my life. I have never been a huge guy, but I was cut up and about 9% body fat at one time.

At 5'10", I got up to 187 the day I started this workout.

I was skeptical of it and had a hard time believing that it wasn't just another gimmicky workout trend. Let me tell you, it is NO JOKE.

I just finished day 10 and I already lost an inch off of my waist, and have dropped at least 3 lbs. And I imagine it is only going to get better being that I haven't even been able to make it through an entire circuit during the workout yet without pausing for a minute and going back at it.

It comes with a nutrition guide, but with 3 kids, it's hard to buy specialty items without them getting devoured before you get to it, lol. So, I've gone with some staples and just rotate them around throughout the day...

Oatmeal with a scoop of whey protein for breakfast.

Tuna w/ a tbsp low fat mayo(w/olive oil) and tbsp relish on a bagel thin.

Fruits

Veggies

Grilled chicken

Boiled eggs

Salmon

Turkey Burgers

I just try to switch them up and it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Although I'm thinking I may need to keep the bagel thins to one a day instead of 2 or 3 times. They're only 110 calories, but it's still bread. I'm guessing I should look for more carbs from fruits.

Anyway, I suggest to any of you, if you want to get back in shape, DO IT. This program allows you to look like a complete jackass in the privacy of your own home, where no one will see how bad you let yourself go except your wife and kids, lol.

But seriously, it's a great program from everything I've experienced so far. For basketball season back in the day, I used to put on a 20 lbs. weighted vest, go to the track, run a mile, then do several sets of stadium steps in 98 degree heat. This is right up there, if not harder. I actually had to take a day off after the first day because I could barely walk the next day.

Anyway, that's my story and hope some of you found it useful, otherwise, TLDR.

Good stuff, Irv. Hopefully I'll be posting some positive results here in a few weeks or so.

And here we are. I just finished my first four weeks of this program yesterday. Let me say that Insanity is not just a name. If you're somewhat out of shape or even in decent but not great shape, just the fitness test should leave you sucking air. This is a program like no other, but you feel so accomplished when you're through a workout that it's all worth it.

I didn't take my measurements, but of course I am tracking my weight, and I'm down about 15 pounds in four weeks. And that's with building some muscle as well. I have to do the program in the morning before work, because I'm exhausted when I get home. So, I get up at 5AM every day, walk downstairs, and spend about 45 mins or so doing these workouts. It also makes me feel a lot better throughout the day. By the time I get to work at 8, I've already been awake for 3 hours, eaten a great and nutritious breakfast, and spent some time lying in a pool of my own sweat after a ridiculous workout. It's great.

The instructor, Shaun T, is just great. He does all the workouts right along with you, and only takes a break when he's working so hard that he can't speak. He's a very motivational guy, even just through television.

The nutrition plan is fairly easy to follow, although probably much easier if you're a single guy with no kids. I've limited my drinking from 5-7 drinks a week to just 1 per week, normally on Saturday night. For breakfast I either do a protein shake or proatmeal (oatmeal made w/ water, whey powder, raspberries, milk, and crushed walnuts). For lunch I'll do half a roast beef or turkey sandwich with carrots and fruit, I snack on almonds and other fruits, and for dinner normally some chicken or turkey dish--normally low carb.

Next week is my recovery week--a whole week where I'm doing the same workout every day. Then after that I start my final four weeks of the program. I'm hoping to drop an additional 25 pounds, but I'll have to work even harder to reach that by the end. Anyway, I feel better, look maybe a little better, and my clothes are actually fitting like they're supposed to now. Easily the best workout program I've ever done.

good for ya'll!! It's definitely easier to keep the motivation training rollin' when you really start to see results..took me loosing 15 lbs to really notice and in turn I worked harder and it's paid off

I have started doing more strength training exercises at home...but poo, lunges and squates...they KILL me! I did about 20 Saturday and I'm still walking like I got railed too hard :)

...does it get better..should I only do 4 and very slowly build up??? this is the 2nd time I've not been able to walk after doing lunges and squats

It'll get better MPF... any exercise like lunges that stretches the muscle makes you sore after you do it... but the more you do it, the more your body adapts to it.

If I did the chest work that I did yesterday after taking a too long of a break, I probably couldn't get out of bed... but now I can kill it and only be a little sore, just enough to know I worked hard.

when it doesn't hurt anymore..I'll do about half of what I did and go from there...maybe alternate lunges and squats..not do them in the same workout

and I'm not exaggerating about the pain..my cat walked across my lap yesterday and you would've thought someone stabbed me with the way I cried out..now granted he does weigh 18 pounds...but still....
