Panthers Free agents signed over the years....

Thought this would be kind of fun. Lets list any Free Agent signings that the Panthers have made since their inception. Also list whether they were a bust or actually were a good signing

I start with Kevin Greene. One of my all time favorite players. He played crazy. If Peppers had his intensity, Pepps would be unstoppable. Definitley not a bust

You guys do realize that all free agent history is available via the Panthers website, right?

Oh well, I'll bite.

Those that I consider good or solid acquisitions:

John Kasay

Sam Mills

Frank Reich

Steve Beuerlein

Kevin Greene

Wesley Walls

Brentson Buckner

Jake Delhomme

Ricky Prohel (one of my favs. Wish we had him earlier in his career)

Ken Lucas (he was awesome his first/second season with the Panthers)

Maake Kemoeatu

Damione Lewis (with Maake, made an awesome run-stuffing line)

Interesting picks

Steve Bono (can't believe we actually signed the guy that backed up many other franchise QB's. lol)

Tyler Brayton (yet to be seen if he'll grow)

Keydrick Vincent (looks to be a fantastic signing)

The funny thing is that if you look at the players the Panthers let walk in free agency, none of them really panned out in their next team. Only a few either maintained or expanded their stats (Joe Nedney is still a very solid kicker for the niners, Ricky Manning Jr. had a good 2005 season with the Bears, Will Witherspoon had two great seasons with the Rams after leaving Carolina, Marlon McCree played two good years with the Chargers.)

Seems like the Panthers know what players to let go. No huge losses.

If you think that Jake Delhomme is "arguable" as to him being a bust or not your nuts. David Carr are Keyshawn Johnson bust. Someone who keeps you competitive for 5 years and has one bad night does not make him a bust.

Jeff Lewis was a bust

DJ Hackett was a bust

Justin Hartwig was a bust

Sean Gilbert was a fat bust

Sean Gilbert was not a bust. If you look at his numbers for those first few years as a Panther, they compare well to the top DTs at the time. They actually are as good as Hayneworth last year, Jenkins, Sapp, many others. The front office was the bust by not working the deal to lessen the franchise player hit before making the offer to him.
