It's not like this guys were caught with steroids. Breaking the rules doesn't always mean competitive advantage.

Hell, I'd argue that banging prostitutes and cruising on yachts all day would give you a competitive disadvantage.

I don't know, I think we need to do a study on the effects of banging hookers on yachts. I would have course be willing to volunteer to be one of the testers. :)

In general the NCAA needs to forget these rules, they can't effectively enforce them so there's no point in having them. What good does it do now to punish the kids on this team for what guys did several years ago?

There is no practical way to enforce these rules unless you want to hire someone to follow each one of these players around 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Maybe I don't get it, but I don't see why boosters giving these guys "extra benefits" is a problem? Don't tell me about competitive balance, there's no competitive balance in NCAA football anyways, half the games are against powder-puff opponents so you can win the beauty contest that gets you into a bowl game.

I like watching college football, but the NCAA is a joke.

Don't care about these violations....just like I did not care about the laptop incident with Cam.

They are not that big of a deal.

1. These are teenagers.....they all make dumb decision

2. Somone would have thrown cash, girls, cars, etc in my face in college and I would have done the same thing.

3. Many of these athletes do not come from families with money.

I think almost every major college football program does something illegal in recruiting every year. It honestly wouldn't suprise me if every team payed its top players.

Its sad but kids need money and I have seen plenty of high school kids receieve money for signing with a college. I remember once a guy posted in a fourm top recruits myspace and after their signing day how they would have stacks of cash and brand new cars.

Colleges offer kids parents money, jobs, houses and cars as well. I remember watching the story of the 1980's SMU football team, if anyone doesn't know about how college teams recruit players I must recomend you watch it.
