Jon Beason Appears To Be Pretty Involved in the U of M Scandle

Drinks, food, a little bit of cash... pretty tame compared to some of the other things this guy is alleging. The only question here is what "entertainment on the yacht" might entail, but frankly I may have made a few interesting choices if I had found myself on a yacht at that age.

Would Beason have been better served staying away form this guy? Possibly. However, I don't think anyone would really question the type of NFL player and citizen he has been thus far, and this doesn't really bother me.

Untill the NCAA changes their rules this will keep going on... I dont know what Beasons family financials are but as everyone knows a lot of these guys come from nothing. When you get a scholarship from these schools its a great deal. Tuition, 3 meals a day, housing, and sometimes books. But in most cases your not allowed to have a job. All the provided things are great but if you have no spending money what so ever what can you do? These student athletes have lives too. It is college after all. Your supposed to have fun, but when you cant afford to go out to the bar with your friends because you cant get a job thats bullsh*t. Give the players an allowance or give them the same right as other students to get jobs.

The glory days of the U have been over ever since Randy Shannon took over in 07. Its kinda sad to see this happen but i'm not surprised. Any dominant school is doing something like this to an extent. I can't say I blame Beason. If someone was offering me great benefits for free I'd probably take it too.

Don't blame the players at all. The coaches are making millions of dollars, the facilities are state of art, schools are making a mint. In the whole equation the players are the ones getting a very small piece of the pie considering they are 90% of the college football pyramid.

NFL players got 45% or of revenue from the NFL labor deal. They do it full time. Fine. Under a similar deal, college players getting half of that would seem fair. Does anyone really think college players are getting 22 1/2 percent of revenues? No. In a business sense I'd absolutely love to find labor that worked that cheap comparable to the revenue they were bringing it.

At 20 I would have taken the money and banged every hooker on that yacht twice.

I'm still struggling to understand how some money, a car and a few all-expense paid nights out on the town make you a better football player?

The NCAA needs to get over this idea of "amateur athletes" and move on, we're way past that. These guys make MILLIONS of dollars for these universities, they should be allowed to take whatever they can get.
