When to draft Michael Vick?

I know this is the cliche' go-to fantasy discussion question this season, but I have the 3rd pick in the league I run with 11 other guys every year, and our champ last year was basically carried to victory by Mike Vick.

Conventional wisdom says go with one of the top 4 rushers (probably not CJ if he doesn't report soon), but taking Vick would be a real wild card. I doubt I have the balls to take the gamble, since I'm totally fine with Rivers or another top QB in the early 3rd.

I agree with paragraph 2. 3rd pick is just too early to take him. A late first round pick is worth it.

Definitely wouldn't take him in the first.

He'd be the 4th/5th QB off the board if you're smart, especially the way he's playing.

Very Interesting case why Vick is worth not only a first round pick put the #1 overall pick...of course leagues score differently but out of all the championships teams in ESPN last year. Vick was on more of them than anyone else.

Here's my argument as to why Vick is not only worth a first-round pick, and not only should be the No. 1 quarterback taken, but should be the No. 1 pick overall. It's actually very simple.

If Michael Vick is as good as he was last season and stays healthy all year, you win your league. Period. And he's the only guy you can say that about.

Vick finished with 300 fantasy points in ESPN standard scoring, second overall (Foster had 313) and was the highest-scoring fantasy quarterback. Rodgers finished second among quarterbacks with 292 points.

OK, so it was a very good year. But not even the best one, right, Arian Foster supporters?

Wrong. Foster played all 16 games and Vick played only (for all intents and purposes) 11. You can't look at season totals because we don't play with season totals. We play week-to-week. And when you look week-to-week, Vick blows everyone out of the water.

In the 11 games he finished (more on that in a second), Vick averaged 27 points.

Rodgers played 14 games in which he finished the game and averaged 20 points per game.

If you take what Vick did last year in the 11 games he finished and then extrapolated it to 16 games, those numbers would be 4,318 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns and only nine interceptions.

Depends on the league and how bad you want him, I've seen him go number 1 overall. This isn't a good year to have a high pick IMO.

I still have a hard time taking any thing other than RB in the first round. There are just too many split backfields now, and I want one of those that doesn't share the carries.

Very good point really. The thing is though people will go heavy on RBs in the first round and you would likely miss on a great RB for the rest of the draft.

Plenty of RBs in the mid rounds if u pick the right guys. I had Vick last year and those rushing yards and rushing TDs he was at times scoring as a QB and an RB.

Side note, dynasty leagues be sure to pick up or boy Cam. Because he will score as a less explosive but more durable Mike Vick.
