I like Godfrey, he has talent. For some strange reason he has not been able to show it to date. I am hoping that the new coach and scheme will help him reach his potential. The Panthers have never had an elite safety, not sure why. Harris was good, just not elite. Maybe Rivera can bring out the best in Godfrey.

Looking at that play, Godfrey was on the same side as Captain who was in for Gamble and Marshall was on the other side. Doens't Godfrey normally play on the same side as Gamble?

I'm not oversimplifying anything. People keep saying Godfrey had to cover for Marshall. As that play showed, Godfrey was on the other side of the field. Since we played a Cover 2, how was it his job to cover from the CB on the other side.

First of all, you're using a goal line situation where Godfrey gets run over the justify his being shaky in coverage.

Goal line coverage doesn't necessarily entail where players will line up on every down. Also, that highlight should be banned from any Panthers forum; add it to the blacklist along with Kasay's out-of-bounds kickoff from SB XXXVIII.

Anyone care to look up video on all Godfreys career interceptions. I would venture to guess on over half of them he was in no mans land and the qb threw such an awful pass it ended up in his hands. This doesn't make him a good safety, second weakest link on the D in my opinion. Unfortunately he WILL be lined up a majority of the time on the same side of the field with the weakest link.

I never said anything about Godfrey's coverage. People keep saying Godfrey had to cover for Marshall. I thought I remembered Godfrey playing on the side with Gamble, but I could be wrong. So I asked a question that had nothing to do with his coverage.
