Folks, we have to discuss this. (we really do)

If we can get an able replacement (top 10) back, success will continue.

And we addressed that lack of QB pressure by getting a consistant, 8 sack guy for a good price.

Matt's growth is key.

If he can just become a "pretty good" QB, I like our chances.

You do not.

We are just gonna have to agree to disagree here.

And talk again in 3 years.

MadHatter beat me to the punch.. we'll see in 3 years if Ray Edwards was everything you thought he was..

imagine Peppers here in Carolina, but without the freakish ability.. your defense isn't going to hang with the Packers..

also, what draft picks are you going to ensure you pick up a Top 10 RB? I doubt you find the likes of Michael Turner.. but that's just my opinion..

so yes, we can agree to disagree.. Matty Ice will have to become a real surgeon... we shall see in 3 years.. (if it takes that long)

I see that as we have discussed, our views have both gravitated to the middle.

This is what an excellent thread discussion can do.

And by the way...

Turner was a 4th rounder.

RBs are a crapshoot, but we already may have his replacement in Snelling

(Albeit he just turned 27)

Speaking from experience?

Yes.

I jumped off the "Matty Ice" bandwagon quickly.

And look at me now.

I only got a skinned knee.

But those bums at "falconslife" are in for a rude surprise.

When that wagon goes off the cliff we all know it's headed to...

There's gonna be some severe internal injuries.

RBs are a crapshoot, which makes me curious if you'll manage to find 1 that steps up into Turner's shoes..

Snelling was a great chance of pace back, until he gets full reign, we'll have to play the wait and see game..

I feel pretty strongly that Matty Ice has to step up A LOT because within the next 2-3 years everything is about to fall on JJ and White's shoulders, without any other playmakers, defenses will shut them down to a certain extent causing Matt Ryan to be more of an Aaron Rodgers than a Joe Flacco..

which is what you just said.. the Falcons MUST replace Turner and find a decent TE..

Agreed.

While we may not be able to find another Turner (Snelling is lesser but a similar player) or Gonzalez (no one ever will),

RB and TE are the two easiest places to find cheap talent at.

QB on the other hand...

And the part I highlighted,

are you sure you meant that?

Not really sure why you feel the urge to talk smack about my 13-3 team that added 2 very good players while your 2-14 team continues to flounder.

Wish all you want, but you will be markedly closer to repeating last years' debacle.

Than you will be to 8-8.

Edwards was the 3rd most effective pass rusher last year (per PFF).

While the Williams Wall was a non factor (also per PFF)

The lack of sacks was due to the fact that he plays LE, not RE.

So righty QBs can see him coming.

Resulting in pressure, but not sacks.

And once again, reverting to the main point,

We paid 1/2 as much, and 1/3 as much guaranteed to get him as you did for Johnson.

Charles Johnson is a better player.

But not 2 or 3 times better.

That's a little food for thought.

Bitter, yes, but you're gonna have to eat it eventually.

The quicker you get it down, the better.

Well if were using PFF as a source. They had Charles Johnson as the second rated 4-3 DE and worthy of Dpoy. If he can play like this conistently I don't see why he isn't worth it.

James Anderson finished third in the 4-3 OLB rankings. (far from the okay season you stated) If he keeps producing seasons like that, why wouldn't he be worthy of the contract?

Both of these didn't just come out of nowhere, in their years before hand they showed they were capable of playing at a high level when they saw the field and confirmed this when they had the whole season this year.

And again Davis contract will not hurt us if he is injured this year. Not sure why your disputing this

Not once did I say those guys are bad players.

Just that you overpaid.

By a lot.

And I mean by a ton.

Take your medicine...

And by the same token, stop acting like Edwards is garbage if you want to use PFF.

I love how "spot on" says "while the panthers continue to flounder"....

How much of an idiot are you?

Where is the evidence that our team is going to not improve?

Are we half way through the season already?

No?

The season hasn't even started yet?

Lol

Sounds like just hopeful thinking on your part, spot on.

Tell ya what, come on back after the season is over, an let's revisit this coversation that we must have, that you hated to bring up.

Until then, keep your lyin' idiotic trap shut.

Folks.

It's up to you to keep the panthers a class organization.

Ask Questions!

Call up the FO!

Demand your thoughts be heard!

Hold people accountable!

Contracts like these are unacceptable.

Completely unacceptable.

The only thing that you have shown here is your lack of understanding players value's in todays NFL.

typo, left out a few key words.. was saying he will be required to step up more like a Rodgers than a Flacco..

Rodgers owns that offense.. Flacco isn't there yet, neither is Matt Ryan, which was my point..

Let's flip that coin and pass it back.

What tangible evidence do you have that you will improve?

None.

I have a much better case on my side.

I can bring up past performance,

It's not much, but it's more than you've got.

You can bring up wishful thinking.

You may say "Oh the new system this..."

Or "Oh Cam Newton that..."

But until the ball is snapped on week one...

Spot on Dtan 1, Pantherclaw 0.
