Jon Gruden thinks Terrelle Pryor may be better than Newton

Welcome to Oakland Mr. Pryor

sadly that team fits him. to me though it would be best for him in Washington or Miami because they would give him time to develop. Oakland will likely start him too soon. oh, another thing, Pryor actually does have a great passing arm, it's just his mind that's the issue and not his off the field mind, his football mind, his issue is making decisions and he makes poor ones usually. he runs when he shouldnt or passes when or where he shouldnt.

Dallas is a could be, but i dont think he fits there either. Romo is the starter and he wants to play QB. the best teams for him are teams with a need at QB and WR (if QB doesnt work out), but Dallas is a could be because they were going to attend his workout.

there is an art to being a broadcast journalist that some have mastered. Largely because this art is about as difficult as completing a connect the dot sketch and then coloring it by numbers.

The title of his thread defines yet another example of a completely ambiguous statement that polarizes fan bases to the point of incitement, exaggeration, and amazement. Over and over again your average-minded bystander will get yanked into the mosh pit over a quote this innocent either because he has no idea that he himself is the target of the medias arrows or because he just has knee-jerk homerific reactions to everything that seems like it might diss his team.

It's a very funny thing to witness.

Don't like it don't read it. Simple as that. This post was just open to discussing the topic at hand not your critic of why it was made and how funny homerisms and all that muff cabbage you were spewing.

Oh don't get mad. The sensationalism of the "privately expressed belief" that you are touting as a Gruden "bold statement" needed to be toned down a bit.

These guys aren't all that bright around here. Don't confuse them even more. You'll have dudes crossing swords at dawn over a statement that based on the proof you provided was likely never even said, much less said not in jest.

And don't be embarrassed if you actually got fooled yourself. It happens to he best of us and is the goal of the media industry to make something bigger than it actually is. It's not a matter of whether I like it or not. If I see bullshi+, I think I can call bullshi+.

T Pryor would be the perfect backup to Cam. Their games are pretty similar.

but why would Carolina want to get this guy to backup??? they have Clausen under contract and Anderson. it doesnt make sense. i dont see them putting a bid on Pryor, NOW if they DO play the supplemental draft look for them to put bids on a cornerback and McAdoo, i dont see them putting a bid on Pryor. i think the teams that bid for Pryor are Dallas, Cleveland, Washington, Miami, Seattle and San Francisco.

    • I mean it's not even like this was his worst game of the season... I'm not done with him by any means but this feels more the norm for him than the exception:/
    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
