Google announced early Monday morning that it will acquire smartphone maker Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion in cash.

According to a Google press release, published in full at TechCrunch, "The acquisition of Motorola Mobility, a dedicated Android partner, will enable Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem and will enhance competition in mobile computing."

Interesting.

Basically google now has a company that can make the hardware how they want it and the software how they want it without having to give companies kickbacks. Closest thing they can do to come close to apple in that market without making motorola exclusive to the android os

Think samsung might just be slightly pissed?

Honestly it's what google needs to do to make a stable good name for android. Other companies have made a bad name for their os by adding poo they dont need or it ruins the os. The only two I like so far is samsung and htcn when it comes to the phones
